Our Objectives for Today
• Breakdown the MA framework• Summarise Holistic development
• Identify how children learn
• Compare differing rates of development within “normal” sequence
• Identify major milestones in development for a given age range

Using the Early Years Foundation Stage find where your chosen age range lies for each area of development.
Don’t forget to include a quote
Every Child is Different and
Unique!
Children develop at their own rate, but they usually follow a similar sequence
Think of two children of similar age in your setting or that you
know outside of work• Do they do exactly the same
things?• Are there things that one child can
do that the other can’t.• Could you do exactly the same
things as your best friend from school?
Go Back to the EYFS and have a look at the age range column

What do we mean by patterns of
development?
• List some things that children often learn/achieve in a certain order.
Sequence of play• Read through the terms and relate
these to the pictures of children playing.
• List suitable ages for these types of play
