PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE HOLY FAITH EPISCOPAL CHURCH, PORT ST. LUCIE, FL

FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY

January 29, 2017

Celebrant:

Lord, we come to you humbled by your greatness, your wonderful love,

your holy wisdom.

We bring our praise of you, praise of your creation, praise of your tender

mercies you bestow on us. We come singing our love for you as we say;

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O Lord, we thank you that you're near to those who are broken hearted

and close at hand to those who are crushed in spirit. We thank you that

your foolishness is wiser than the wisdom of humankind and your weak-

ness stronger than our strength. We pray for those who do not know

your mercy and your compassion, that they may be drawn to eat and

drink of you, and we ask that all who are ensnared by the chains of fear

and despair may come to know the truth and the love that sets us free.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We praise You, O God, for Your Son, who poured out His life in ser-

vice, that the light of His peace and joy may become realities for those in

darkness. Forgive us, Lord, for our immaturity that makes us want to be

receivers of His light without being messengers of his grace. May the testi-

mony of our lives reflect the brightness of our Savior's love to those who

are poor, those who are oppressed, to those who need the brightness of

Your light and glory. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give us, O God, patience to speak good news to those who oppose us,

and to help those who may rage against us, so that, following in the way of

your Son, we may rejoice even when rejected, trusting in Your perfect

love which never fails. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray, O God, for the well-being, physical, emotional, social, and spir-

itual of the world around us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Put divine trust into the hearts of the leaders of our nation, especially

Donald, our president, Rick, our governor, Gregory, our mayor and of

all in authority, that they may cooperate with your work to build commu-

nities of peace throughout the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our pray-

er.

5

We pray for those who rejoice this week as they celebrate their birthday es-

pecially, Anthony, Enid, Kevin, Phillip, Ricardo and those celebrating a

wedding anniversary..Father Burnet & Jolen Cherisol, Roberto & Olga Chá-

vez, Ossie & Mary Follwell that they might obtain joy and gladness, and

sorrow and sighing might flee away. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Have compassion on those who suffer from grief or trouble; Susan, Lee,

Jennifer, Bonnie, Gloria, and those whom we may name at this time….that

they may be delivered from their distress. Lord, in your mercy, hear our

prayer.

Welcome in your divine pleasure all those who have died, especially, Joyce

Mckay that they may have a place in your eternal domains. Let light perpet-

ual shine upon them. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons, especially: Justin, Archbishop

of Canterbury; Michael, our Presiding Bishop; Gregory, our bishop; Orlan-

do, our dean and vicar; Bill, Burnet, Pepe, and Jamie, our clergy, that they

may be faithful ministers of your Word and Sacraments. Lord, in your mer-

cy, hear our prayer.

We pray, O Lord, for the men and women of our Armed Forces, saying:

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men

and women of our armed forces at home and abroad, especially :Warren, Janesse, Abdullah, Joshua, Preston, Shane, Caleb, Junior, Chelsea, Tyrone,

Melva, Dilson, Paul, James, Rawlyn, Santiago, Jon, Larissa, Emily, Noah and Chirstela: Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strength-

en them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils,

which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherev-

er they may be. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Celebrant:

We thank you O God for your blessings upon those who are afflicted, those

who mourn, those who are humble and those who seek your kingdom. We

rest, ourselves, O God, in You. Bring to life in us the fullness of the gospel

of Christ Jesus our Lord and transform the poverty of our nature by the

riches of your grace. Amen
