Mission of the Month - Greensboro Urban Ministries has blessed me over many years. It has been an honor to coordinate groups to prepare and serve the first Friday of each month. Over the last 18 months, we’ve had quite a variety of participants including: The Ridge, Piedmont Triad Futbol Club (PTFC ’01 and ’02) boy’s soccer teams, homeschoolers, Scouts, Weekday School, American Heritage Girls, Sunday school classes or small groups and businesses like Tarheel Paper and organizations like the Guilford Merchants Association. I am extremely grateful to those that have either prepared food or served. Many feel they get more out of it than they contribute and I would agree. It’s a wonderful feeling to know you are making an impact on those in our local community in need.
If you are interested in preparing food or serving food, please reach out to [email protected] or 336-382-0695. You can also “sponsor” quarts of Brunswick stew to be donated for a first Friday OR purchase the William Mangum Honor Cards for a minimum $5 donation to GUM. THANKS for being such a generous congregation! Include MoM: Greensboro Urban Ministries or GUM on your check.

HONOR CARDS - This is the 31st anniversary of the Honor Card which has been created by local Greensboro artist, William Mangum. The Honor Card program is an annual campaign to raise awareness and funds to meet the needs of the homeless in Greensboro and throughout North Carolina. In addition to using the cards for special holiday greetings for family and friends, many people frame them to hang in their homes or give as gifts. This year's card is titled "Almost Home". The Honor Cards may be purchased for a minimum donation of $5.00 each and will be available on Sundays, November 18, December 2, and 9 in the Narthex and FLC Lobby after Sunday services, or you may obtain them by contacting Donna Cleveland, 336-643-0715. All proceeds from sale of cards goes directly to Greensboro Urban Ministry.

We are working this week on our annual effort to strip and wax the tile floors in the nursery wing, fellowship hall and education building. If things go according to plan, the work will be fully completed by this Sunday
morning. We have also been working to repair our well water pump system in the past few days. The staff of our Weekday School ministry has an annual conference they attend in early November, and the optimal time to do this work is when the day care plans to be closed. This avoids disruption to the church’s ministries as the campus will be very quiet during this three day window. Thank you to everyone for your support while we get this work accomplished.” – Todd Hall on behalf of the Trustees.
