WELCOME FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM Happy New Year! It certainly has been one for us already at Running to Places, our wonderful youth theatre company filled with middle and high school students from all over Tompkins County. These young artists continue to amaze us as they gain important life skills and improve their craft, and we cannot wait to share the results of their hard work with you! Thanks to the dedication of our families, we are off to a strong start this season as they provide “family obligation” donations, fundraising, and sweat equity to the company. After serious concerns last summer that Running to Places might become a wonderful thing of the past, it seems we are on the road to financial stability. It is our sincere hope that we will be producing theatre with young people and in the process strengthening our communities for years to come! We also hope that everyone reading this message will want to become a member of the Running to Places family, and by becoming a donor you can do just that today! Even better, your donation dollars may count twice: all new donors who do not have an immediate family member in the company will see their donation matched by our Park Foundation challenge grant until we reach our goal of $10,000! We are proud and thankful to announce this support from the Park Foundation, and it's exciting to consider the opportunities your donations will bring to our young people and audiences. It's our goal to meet this challenge between now and our middle school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which runs at the Hangar Theatre February 25-27. While ambitious, this accomplishment will help ensure that Running to Places becomes a permanent establishment in Tompkins County! To join us, please simply utilize the donation form located in this program or a similar card located in the concessions area. There is a secure box at concessions to receive your form and donation to “Running to Places.” Or you can return home and conveniently donate via PayPal at www.runningtoplaces.org or by mail to us at – PO Box 483, Ithaca, NY 14851. The entire Running to Places family – which includes around 180 company members plus their families along with the artistic and production team mentors – is thankful to have you here with us at this performance. Enjoy, and we hope to continue seeing you throughout the coming year! Best, Gail, Joey, and Todd

He looks forward to much more stage time, and a great second year in Ithaca! Grace Bobertz (Reporter #2/Ensemble): is simply tickled pink to be in her first Running to Places production! While on hiatus from singing, acting and dancing, she can most likely be found creating all kinds of art, contentedly cleaning her room, delving into her trusty thesaurus and homeschooling in her hometown of Trumansburg. She will now take the time to thank Gail, Joey, Todd, Tom, and the rest of the crew for their unfathomable encouragement, dedication...and for simply being the cat's meow. She dearly hopes you have as much of a rapturous time seeing Anything Goes as she had being in it! Gregg Houck (Assistant Director): Gregg is enthusiastically returning for his 2nd season with R2P having previously served as both an assistant and lead scenic paint charge last season. Theatre, Rome Community Theatre, The Capitol Theatre, the Boys and Girls Club of America, the YMCA, and several middle & high schools throughout the state. In the summer of 2005, Michael received an award for Outstanding Musical Achievement in Piano from the Crane School of Music through their summer youth music program. He currently attends Ithaca College, where he is entering the final semester of his senior year, pursuing a degree in Music Education, with concentrations in piano and voice. He is a proud member Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, National Fraternity of America, Inc. As always, he would love to thank his family endlessly- without their support, there is no way he would be where he is today. "Those piano lessons really paid off!!" Sam Bobertz (Luke): Just six short months ago, Sam was an innocent young boy, completely unaware of the sins of gambling. Last summer he made his R2P debut as the crapshooter Harry the Horse in Guys and Dolls. In that short time he went from needing to Google what a crapshooter was, to playing one so convincingly he was cast as one yet again (but of course this time he's reformed). When not acting, he can usually be found playing soccer, reading, or singing in the shower. He would like to thank the cast and crew profusely for all their hard work and fun times. Enjoy the show! Sarah Beckwith (Hope) is a junior at Lansing High School, and is ecstatic to be appearing in her seventh R2P show!! With R2P, she has previously been seen in Damn Yankees (Doris), Once Upon a Mattress (Minstrel), Music Man (Ethel Toffelmier), and Spring Showcases ’08, ’09, and ’10. Sarah has been a member of SITB and appeared in four of their shows. With Lansing High School, she was a narrator in Joseph, Rumpleteazer in Cats, and will be playing Chava in Fiddler on the Roof this spring. When not on stage, Sarah is either singing with the ICC Chorale, or babysitting. Thanks to everyone involved, and to the cast and crew: I LOVE YOU. Sari Koppel (Reno Sweeny) is a sophomore at Trumansburg High School and is super excited to be involved in Anything Goes!! Recently with R2P you might have seen her in Guys and Dolls (Hotbox Girl), 2010 Spring Showcase, or Music Man (Marian). With Trumansburg Drama she has been in Snoopy (Sally Brown), Cinderella (Cinderella), and Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel). When not singing Sari enjoys dance and Track and Field. In the fall, Sari will be attending Interlochen Academy of the Arts in Michigan. A special thanks to my two fabulous and amazing voice teachers Sharon Costianes and Erica Steinhagen, I couldn’t have done this without you guys. Thanks to my friends and family for the support. And last but certainly not least, thanks to the wonderful production team for everything that you do! Enjoy the show!!! St. John Faulkner (Billy Crocker) is happy to be in Anything Goes, his fourth Running to Places show. He has most recently been seen as Benny Southstreet in Guys & Dolls with R2P. His favorite roles include Jesus in Godspell, the Press Agent in Babes in Arms, and Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance. He has also appeared in other musicals and dramas at Boynton Middle School as well as danced for the Ithaca Ballet. When not on stage, he can be found singing or playing music. He would like to thank everybody in the cast, his family, and his friends. Enjoy the show! Thomas Jefferson Peters (Music Director) earned his degree from Ithaca College with studies in Music, Audio Production, and English in May 2009. Since graduation, Peters has accompanied three shows at the Kitchen Theatre: GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL! (assistant music director), PARK PLAY (co-writer and music director), and I HAVE A SONG TO SING O! (music director).

Running to Places Theatre Company (R2P) is a nonprofit theatre company for teens that rehearses and performs all over the Tompkins County area. We provide youth with opportunities to participate in all aspects of theatre and the process allows them to create great art, develop important life skills, and make deep connections with teens from every school district in the county. Participation is open to all those in grades 6-12 or the home school equivalent. Rather than impose a strict fee structure for participation, we depend on donations, fundraising, ticket sales, business sponsorships, and grants. R2P was started in 2007 to meet the demand for more theatre opportunities for the talented youth in this area, reduce barriers to participation in the arts, and to build community across the county. After spending its inaugural season under the nonprofit umbrella of Social Ventures, Running to Places Theatre Company was incorporated as an independent 501(c)3 in September 2008. The founding members of R2P are Gail Belokur, Ross Mizrahi, Todd Peterson, and Joey Steinhagen.
