A NOTE FROM THE R2P LEADERSHIP TEAM We think we’re pretty lucky around here. We suppose we could be digging ditches. Instead, we’re spending the weekend putting on what is simply one of the greatest works in the history of human invention. We have the privilege of collaborating with a huge collection of talented and dedicated friends who work tirelessly to help us bring wonderful stories to life. As a company, we’ve done this nearly two dozen times already, and as you can see from the page on the right, we’re not planning to stop any time soon. And you’ve decided to join us. You’ve left the comfort of your homes, spent some of your hard-earned money, and taken a seat in a dark room to suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours. We have much to be grateful for, and we want to take this moment to say “thank you” for being a part of it all. Best, Gail, Joey, & Todd !

BIOS ALEXANDER WOODWARD (Scenic Design) is thrilled to be back in Ithaca and working with R2P again. He has worked with Running to Places designing several projects including: Charlie Brown, HONK!, Once Upon A Mattress, and Footloose both as a designer and a mentor. Some of his local credits include designs for Tartuffe, Hedda Gabler, and The Wild Party all for Ithaca College. Alexander has also assisted for numerous companies around the country including: Roundabout Theatre, Second Stage, Playwrights Horizons, Dallas Theatre Center, The Guthrie, La Jolla, The Old Globe, Williamstown, Barrington Stage. Congratulations Cast and Crew of Romeo and Juliet! ANTHONY NIGRO (Nurse) would like to give a huge thanks to Joey, Todd, Gail, Kevin, Nicole, and the rest of the cast and crew for all their hard work and dedication, and for making this such a fun experience! Enjoy the show! CALEB HARRIS (Lord Capulet) is a sophomore at IHS and has been enjoying every part of his year. He has been in numerous R2P productions, some of his favorites being Lt. Brannigan in Guys and Dolls, and Mayor Shinn in The Music Man. He also hopes to be doing backstage work at some point in the summer. When not found on stage you can usually find him rowing with the Cascadilla Boat Club, playing piano, taking photos or trying to stay on top of his homework. He would like to thank Joey, Gail, and Todd for being the wonderful people that they are and his parents for driving him EVERYWHERE. Enjoy the show! CHARLOTTE SENDERS (Benvolio) is pleased to be a part of her 10th Running to Places show. She loves biology and playing music. She recently joined Ithaca's youth run Shakespeare group, Shakespeare in the Basement, fell in love with the Bard, and is now incredibly excited to be in R+J. She'd like to thank Paul Westin and Kevin Hilgartner for getting her started with this whole Shakespeare thing, the wonderful production team, her parents, and her older brother. Enjoy the show! DAVID L. ARSENAULT (Lighting Design) R2P: You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Thoroughly Modern Millie (sets and lights, upcoming). NYC (Sets): First Prize (Arclight Theatre), Baltimore in Black and White (Cell Theatre), How I Fell In Love (Abingdon Theatre Company), Brian Dykstra's Ho! Elaine has been involved with R2P since its beginning. She was assistant stage manager for The Pirates of Penzance, Damn Yankees, and HONK! And She has been Stage Manager for R2P's Little Shop of Horrors and R2P2's The Last Five Years and Dryden Middle School's production of Once on This Island. Elaine also appears on stage; most recently as Mrs. Harcourt in Anything Goes and as a featured performer in Spring Showcase. Elaine can not think of a better show to end her senior year. Thank you to the cast, Joey, Anya, Nick, Gail, and the rest of the production team for making this such a wonderful experience. ENGY HASSAN (Assistant Stage Manager/Projections) is a Junior at Ithaca High School. Engy is very glad to be apart of the production team. Engy hopes to continue in the world of preforming arts. EMILY SCARPULLA (Gregory, Friar John) is very excited to be in another R2P show. She has recently been in Ithaca High School's production of "The Wiz" and Shakespeare in the Basement's "Measure for Measure". She enjoys writing music and playing piano. IVY STEVENS (Prince Escalus, Apothecary): Ivy is in her last year of High School, and this show may possibly be her last before graduation, so she hopes it fills everyone’s expectations and more. She has previously been involved with R2P in Wind in the Willows (Fox) and as an Assistant Stage Manager for Anything Goes. She’s also acted with Shakespeare in the Basement in The Tempest (Duke Alonso) and Measure for Measure (Duke Vincentio/Friar Lodowic), along with countless school plays. While she regrets the fact that she has yet to play a woman on stage while doing Shakespeare, she cannot wait to see this show on its feet, and hopes you enjoy it as much as she has! JAMES PALMER (Sampson, Friar Laurence) is so very excited to be performing with R2P in Romeo & Juliet. Surprisingly he is not a villain but rather plays Friar Laurence. With Shakespeare in the Basement he has played Angelo (a villain) in Measure for Measure, Antonio (a villain) in The Tempest, and various character roles in As You Like It. He 'twas in Anything Goes as Evelyn and in The Spring Showcase making R&J his third R2P show this season. He would like to thank his amazing cast, crew and directors, his parents for food and shelter, Ivy for the robot mermaid art, Kevin for the hugs, and Charlotte for the awkward dances. He would like you to remember the 11th commandment. Thou shalt enjoy the show! KEVIN HILGARTNER (Romeo), a junior at IHS, is thrilled to be part of this R2P production. Some of Kevin’s favorite prior R2P roles include: Moon in Anything Goes, Marcellus Washburn in The Music Man, Banjo in The Man Who Came to Dinner, The Modern Major General in The Pirates of Penzance, and Jamie in the R2P2 production of The Last Five Years. He has appeared at the Kitchen Theatre, Hangar Theatre, Cornell Schwartz Center, Ithaca High School, Boynton Middle School, and the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre. Kevin is also Co-Artistic Director of Shakespeare in the Basement, an entirely youth-run Shakespeare company, which recently did a production of Measure for Measure. Kevin would like to thank his brother Nathan, Paula Berman, and SITB for giving him the Shakespeare bug, Nicole for being so amazing to work with, his sister Erin for being awesome, and Joey for being the best director anyone could ask for. NICOLE ROSSI (Juliet) As a sophomore at Trumansburg High School Nicole is thrilled to be a part of Romeo and Juliet!!! She has recently been a lead in Trumansburg's production of Lurking on the Railroad. Her Running to Places experiences include the middle school musical of Honk, Spring Showcase 2009, and 2010, Footloose, and Guys and Dolls. She has had a spectacular time working in Running to Places and would like to thank Joey, Gail, and Todd for all of the work they do to make these shows great. She would also really like to thank her family and friends for all of the support they give through thick and thin. She hopes everyone enjoys this amazing show!!! NOAH ELMAN (Paris) is excited to be in his 6th show with R2P. Most recently, he was backstage as an ASM for Spring Showcase. Other than acting, he enjoys singing, videogames, climbing, and reading. Noah would like to thank his family for putting up with his schedule. Enjoy the show! RACHAEL MCCLENAHAN (Lady Capulet, Balthasar) is a senior at Dryden High School and is very excited to be in R2P's production of Romeo and Juliet. She would like to thank her mother for all the support and help over the years.

RACHEL HARRINGTON (Production Assistant/Sound Assistant) is a homeschooled senior and is super-duper excited for this Running to Places show. She's never had the opportunity to be involved with a Shakespeare show, and is pretty shnazy-dazy excited about it. This is her 12th (she THINKS this is her 12th...she can't really remember) show with R2P, and would like to make sure that YOU know that she's enjoyed EVERY SINGLE ONE she's been a part of. Previous credits include: PA/Fly systems operator for Spring Showcase '09, ASM for HONK!, Singin' in The Rain, and Wind in The Willows, Wardrode Supervisor for Anything Goes and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, ensemble for Footloose, Mission Doll for Guys 'n Dolls, Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man, ensemble in Spring Showcase '11, and she also sang part of 'Greased Lightnin'' in Spring Showcase '10. (All with R2P) You'll be seeing her as 'Mrs. Meers' in Thoroughly Modern Millie later this season (July 29th-31 2011 at THE STATE THEATRE!!!!!) She'd like to thank everyone. Oh, and say: "Ya'll do a lot of kissin'." SARI KOPPEL (Production Assistant/Wardrobe Supervisor): Sari is a sophomore at T-burg and is extremely happy to be working with such a wonderful group of people. Sari is usually on the other side of the production but is thrilled to sit back and watch this amazing cast show their stuff! You may have seen her this season in the 2011 Spring Showcase or in Anything Goes (Reno Sweeny). Next year she will be attending Interlochen Academy of the Arts as a theatre major. Thanks to my friends and family for the support. Also big thanks to our fantastic stage manager Elaine and the rest of the production team and cast for making this such an delightful process. Now please sit back and enjoy this emotional roller coaster!

RUNNING TO PLACES STAFF Gail Belokur (Resident Producer and Co-Artistic Director) has worked professionally with young people in the performing arts in Upstate New York for over 20 years. Her wide range of credits include directing, stage managing, producing, and designing (scenic, costume and lighting) for dozens of plays, musicals and dance recitals for middle and high school students. As founder and artistic director of New Vine Productions, Gail also taught acting workshops and developed arts programs for theatre, dance, music and the visual arts before leaving to

help launch Running to Places. She also enjoys mentoring college students, and enjoys being able to do so through the R2P mentor program and the newly developed “R2P2” program. Gail received her BA in Drama from Ithaca College. She thanks and sends love to husband, George, and their children Kristen, Shauna and Michael. Joey Steinhagen (Resident Director and Co-Artistic Director) has been teaching, acting in, and directing theatre for young people throughout Tompkins County since 1993. He received his BFA in Acting from Ithaca College. Over the years, he has directed musicals and plays at Ithaca and Dryden High Schools, Dryden, Boynton, and Dewitt Middle Schools, for the Northern Lights Learning Center, and the Hangar Theatre’s Kiddstuff series. Joey has taught acting at Ithaca College, Cornell, SUNY Cortland, Hangar Theatre’s Next Generation program, and the Ithaca Youth Bureau. As an actor, Joey is a familiar face on the stage of the Kitchen Theatre, having appeared in many Mainstage and Family Fare shows. He shares his life with his #1 guy Aram and his BFF Erica. Linda Harris (Finance Manager) As an R2P parent she was, and continues to be, extremely inspired by the dedication of the founders of R2P. She has observed their positive influence on our sons and daughters and the enormous amount of personal time they give, all delivered with never ending enthusiasm and a smile. When R2P reached the goal of obtaining their non-profit status (no small feat in itself!) and needed to move forward to prepare to do business “officially” she gladly volunteered her services to help them set up shop. She brings with her, (in addition to her enthusiasm and excitement!), over twenty years of finance and administrative experience. More than ten of those years were in the non-profit sector such as The Chemical Dependencies Clinic of Otsego County and most recently, several years as the Finance Manager at the Cayuga Nature Center. Presently she is a Grant and Contract Officer for the College of Ag and Life Sciences at Cornell. She is looking forward to working with the rest of the R2P staff “behind the scenes”, (where Gail knows she is happiest!), and supporting their hard work and heartfelt efforts for our local youth. Todd Peterson (Resident Choreographer) has been performing and instructing professionally for over 20 years. A former Broadway performer, Todd was trained locally and in New York City. His instructional and choreographic genre include ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, and acrobatic forms of dance. While training and performing in NYC Todd attended the Henry Le Tang and Broadway Center for performing arts. Among his list of accomplishments, Todd is a previous Dance Educators of America Performing Arts Champion, featured dancer for the Miss Black America Pageant, Showcase performer for the Frank Hatchett, Gregory/Maurice Hines Dance Center in Springfield Massachusetts, director/choreographer for The Peace Child Foundation’s production of "City of Peace under the mentorship of Shakespeare in the Park creator Arthur Lithgow. Todd was ranked 5th nationally in men’s solo baton twirling at Americas Youth on Parade in South Bend Indiana. While attending America’s Youth on Parade he also was ranked #2 in the international Drum Major Contest. Todd is an inductee in the Twirlers Hall of Fame. He also opened for the Bob Hope thanks for the Memories tour in Utica New York. Locally he was the co-founder/director of Ithaca’s Thunderbolt Parade and Show Corp, co-founder of the Boynton Theatre Project, Dance instructor for CSMA, and SUNY Cortland. Todd has choreographed for SUNY Cortland, Cornell University, Boynton and Dewitt Middle Schools, and Ithaca and Lansing High Schools. Currently, Todd is an Educator with the Ithaca City School District as well as the proud director of the Ithaca Youth Bureau’s Stewart Park Day Camp. Todd and his family were recently featured in the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian) IndiVisible exhibit in Washington D.C. Running to Places Theatre Company (R2P) is a nonprofit theatre company for teens that rehearses and performs all over the Tompkins County area. We provide youth with opportunities to participate in all aspects of theatre and the process allows them to create great art, develop important life skills, and make deep connections with teens from every school district in the county. Participation is open to all those in grades 6-12 or the home school equivalent. Rather than impose a strict fee structure for participation, we depend on donations, fundraising, ticket sales, business sponsorships, and grants. R2P was started in 2007 to meet the demand for more theatre opportunities for the talented youth in this area, reduce barriers to participation in the arts, and to build community across the county. After spending its inaugural season under the nonprofit umbrella of Social Ventures, Running to Places Theatre Company was incorporated as an independent 501(c)3 in September 2008. The founding members of R2P are Gail Belokur, Ross Mizrahi, Todd Peterson, and Joey Steinhagen.
