EnglishThis course allows learners to: develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately

and effectively when speaking and writing learn how to use a wide range of vocabulary, and the

correct grammar, spelling and punctuation develop a personal style and an awareness of the

audience being addressed read widely, both for their own enjoyment and to further

their awareness of the ways in which English can be used

develop more general analysis and communication skills such as synthesis, inference, and the ability to order facts and present opinions effectively

9th – IGCSE History19th and 20th Century World HistoryDepth Study: Russia

10th – AS Level Global Perspectives

Learners provided opportunities to acquire, develop, and apply skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communication, and collaboration.

Mathematics

Sequence 1 – IGCSE Mathematics with a focus on Geometry; will start AS Mathematics in the 10th grade

Sequence 2 – AS Mathematics: a rigorous integrated program including Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Math Analysis and Calculus

Science

9th-IGCSE Combined ScienceProvides learners the opportunity to study biology and

chemistry within a scientifically coherent syllabus. Emphasis is made to the relevance of the concepts studied

to everyday life, and to the natural and man-made worlds.

10th - IGCSE PhysicsConceptual development of topics including mechanical,

thermal, and atomic physics, properties of waves (light and sound), electricity, and magnetism.

World Language

French, Japanese, or Spanish

Development of language and cultural fluency by understanding and responding to

spoken and written language.

Before Lottery –Read the Cambridge documents and review the

Cambridge Student Profile to determine if the Cambridge AICE Program is a “fit” for you

Commit to preparation needed to enroll in either IGCSE Mathematics or Mathematics – Year 1

Complete the LWSD High School Choice School Application for Cambridge Program and submit it onlineby Friday, December 13, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.

After the Choice School Lottery –

Participate in student/parent group conference with Cambridge representatives (week of January 20th)

Read all Cambridge documents provided at information night (also posted on website)

Final acceptance due by email to mlewis@lwsd.org by Monday, January 27th at 4:00pm. (Acceptance results in removal from other LWSD wait lists.)
