Alive N Kicking

• 12 week after school programme

• Family based

• Nutrition workshops

• New sports and activities

• Learning tools for an active & healthy lifestyle

• Above 91st BMI centile

• 1:1 at start

Junior Programme • Age 5-11• Nutrition workshop • Children activity session with

nutritional message • Weekly Recipe challenge and

drop of activity session

Senior Programme

• Age 11-19• Family Challenges - bonding, competing,

working together • Children and parents

complete nutrition work shop together

Behaviour Change

• Skill acquisition via weekly workshops

• SMART goal setting

• Building family cohesion

• Parent as the agent of change

• Normalising physical activity

• Encouragement and peer support

Results• 80% reducing or maintain BMIz

score

• 75% Increasing Self Esteem

• 73% parents that started overweight lost weight

• 99% parents would recommend this service to other parents

Follow up results

Results at week 24 (6 months) following completion of ANK programme:

• 32% completers attend a follow up appointment

• 80% maintained or reduced BMIz score (week 1 – week 24)

• 76% increased Self Esteem • (week 1 – week 24)

Impact on the Whole Family

Following ANK:

• 73% parents that started overweight lost weight

• 95% service users rate the service very good-excellent

• 99% parents would recommend this service to other parents
