Lil' Mister and Miss Grafenwoehr Pageant on Rose Barracks Presented by the Vilseck and Grafenwoehr Community and Spouses’ Clubs 11 Feb: 10 a.m. at Bldg. 134. Categories are ages: 0-12 mos (Baby), 13 mos -3 yrs (Tiny), 4 yrs-6 yrs (Little), 7-9 years

(Jr.). There will be two winners in every age group; a boy and a girl. There will be one Mister Grafenwoehr and one Miss Grafenwoehr chosen from the entire group. The Pageant will take place in the Vilseck High School MPR.

Open Saturday at the Vilseck Veterinary Treatment Facility 3 March: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Rose Barracks Bldg. 222 (opposite Tumbleweeds, next to the

The VTF is providing more access to care for families and Soldiers outside of normal working hours by offering walk-in appointments to receive basic vaccinations in addition to nail trims, heartworm tests, health certificates, microchipping and over the counter sales & registration. The Army Emergency Relief The Army Emergency Relief (AER) program will begin on March 1 2012, and go to May 15 2012. All Units within USAG Grafenwoehr geographic footprint are requested to provide an AER Representatives. The USAG Grafenwoehr BN S1 will be hosting a special training session for all AER unit representatives on 27 February 2012 at 0900 hours in Grafenwoehr Bldg.533. VCSC Educational Scholarships Available The Vilseck Community and Spouses Club (VCSC) wants to help you go to college. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, spouses/dependents of active duty military and DOD civilians. The application deadline is March 16. GCSC 2012-2013 Scholarship Program The Grafenwoehr Community and Spouses’ Club is offering academic scholarship awards for the 2012-2013 academic years to senior students and family members (spouses and dependents). A tremendous opportunity for eligible garrison family members from the Grafenwoehr, Netzaberg, Vilseck and surrounding military communities desiring to pursue a secondary education. GCSC has distributed $70,000 in scholarships to 40 applicants attending schools in the states and overseas the past two years. Applicants are scored based on academic performance, educational/career goals, extracurricular activities, citizenship, community involvement, employment and/or volunteer experience, an essay and through letters of recommendation. Records Management - Revolutionary Changes The Army Consolidated Records Schedule (ACRS) has been deployed and replaces the Records Retention Schedule-Army (RRS-A) effective 6 Jan 12. ACRS consists of 112 record numbers with three retention periods (0-6 years, 6+ years, and permanent). Highlights of the major changes for the new ACRS and their impact on website functions can be found on the ARIMS website (https://www.arims.army.mil). In addition, a new ACRS Quick Reference Guide is available with more details and an explanation of how the new system works. Updates to the ARIMS User's Guide, BAT User's Guide, and Online Video Tutorials are underway and will be announced as soon as they become available. The document "Records Series Crosswalk" will help you to find the new record numbers and subseries for your old record numbers. Overseas Service Photography Project Announced The Department of Defense announced today that it seeks donations of photographs of U.S. military service life overseas from current and former service members for use in a photo recognition exhibition planned in conjunction with the State Department. The project called “Serving Abroad…Through Their Eyes” will choose images that depict six specific categories: daily life, friendship, places, faces, loss or triumph. Selected images may be used for display in a special photography exhibition planned for the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Pentagon and other prominent venues, stateside and overseas. Price of school lunch increased Current: School lunch prices at all Department of Defense Education Activity schools Outside the Continental United

The International Green Week (IGW, link in EN) is a one-of-a-kind international exhibition for the food, agricultural, and horticultural industries. Established in 1926, it will take place for the 76th time in 2011. Exhibitors often organize around national, regional, or product themes. Presentations feature fresh produce, fish, meats, and dairy products. These combine with a vast selection of international wine, beer, and spirits specialties, to satisfy every culinary palate. Right in line with consumer trends, the IGW also includes direct agricultural sales and the BIO MARKT organic products section. The IGW also features commercial and non-commercial agricultural, forestry, and landscaping exhibits (only GE). Changing annual themes typically include such topics as renewable resources or scientific livestock breeding and production.

Due to the volume of traffic and limited parking spaces, it is strongly recommended you use the excellent public transport system (EN) for your travel to and in Berlin.

Street Market: Lichtmess-Markt 27 Jan. - 2 Feb: 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., in 91054 Erlangen on Schlossplatz.

A typical street market with all kinds of kitchenwares, clothes and brics-a-brac Did you know that the dates for the street markets in Protestant Erlangen were initially chosen based on Catholic holidays honoring the Virgin Mary (Candlemas / Assumption of Mary)? In the surrounding Catholic provinces, all shops (or markets) were closed and farming activities other than milking cows or similar unavoidable things were also forbidden. So the Catholic farmers had a lot of free time on their hands to go shopping, for example. Therefore the smart Erlangen citizens held their markets on those holidays they were not celebrating, thus attracting a much larger crowd and increasing business! Nowadays, the Catholic holidays and the market days don't necessarily match anymore. Reduced opening hours on Sun, 29 Jan.: only from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Pub Festivals which are held in nearly every city in Germany now, are a great opportunity to see many local bands without having to worry about admission. You buy ONE ticket and have access to all participating pubs. In Rothenburg, you can buy your tickets either at the respective pubs (either in advance or on the day of the festival), or at the Tourist Info, ph 09861-404-800. Tickets cost 10.- Euros per person. Please click on this link to see the whole program; the link is only in GE but tells you the location, the time and the band. Even if you don't speak German nor have a German friend who can help you, you can gleen a few more details under "mehr Infos", like what type of music the bands are playing. If the 14 bands still aren't enough, go to the After Show Party at the "Ballhaus Forum" where DJ Haenzy will keep you on your feet from 11 p.m. on!

Wedding Fair "Just Married" 29 Jan: 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., in 91301 Forchheim at the Jahn-Kulturhalle, Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße 10 (ca. 25 km /

15.5 miles south of Bamberg). Considered by many to be the "most beautiful wedding fair in Franconia", it offers the latest dresses, outfits and accessories from over 55 vendors. Throughout the day, you can watch catwalk shows, performances, take part in raffles and purchase numerous articles on sale. The organizer's homepage has plenty of photos from previous wedding fairs if you want to have a look (only in German).

Country Music Fair

Kommune 8. Three days of Country Music Madness! The performers have not been announced online yet but you will find them listed here - in English! Of course you will also be able to buy all the clothes and accessories you need at the fair. Click here for some photos from previous events (in EN). They even provide a list of near-by hotels (in EN) but of course you're not obliged to use them, you can find your own. But if Berlin is too far away for you, maybe you want to wait for the one in Nürnberg. The dates haven't been released yet but it will probably take place in October. The program is now online on the website http://www.countrymusicmesse.de/berlin/english/programm_e.htm The next country music fair will take place in Bayreuth (instead of Nuremberg) and is scheduled for: 22 & 23 September. Country Singer Terri Clark is coming to Bavaria: 3 and 4 July at the Four Corners in Untermeitingen. Tickets are selling out fast, since it is a small Country Bar. Best free parking lots are at "Auf der Wiesen", the car park behind the Kurfürstenbad (indoor swimming pool) and the Hotel Arcadia; the other one is the park block opposite Sulzbacher Straße 5. Both parking areas are only a tiny walking distance from Amberg's city center.

Art Exhibition: Picasso's Works

The selected lithographies and etchings from the 40 years of his work and show the topics and motifs that Picasso has repeatedly interpreted: antique mythology; the artist and his model; the bull and the women.
