COUNCIL CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF THEIR NEW OFFICES

The South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession celebrated their autonomy during afunction held at their new offices in Lone Creek, Midrand on 11 October 2007.

The president of the SACQSP, Prof. R.N. Nkado entertained the dignitaries present with a short history ofthe quantity surveying profession in South Africa and how the role of the Qs has, in certain respects,remained virtually unchanged during the past century. He also briefed the audience on the reasons thatled to the decision of Council to find their own premises within a short distance of the new ASAQSoffices. ASAQS/AAQS INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

INVITATION TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY TO THE INAUGURAL KENNETH K HUMPHREYS AWARDPROGRAMME

On behalf of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS) we invite entries to besubmitted to the inaugural Kenneth K Humphreys Award program of the International Cost EngineeringCouncil (ICEC).

Three awards will be presented - one to the author of the most outstanding paper prepared by a studentor young member of an ICEC member association in each of (1) cost engineering, (2) projectmanagement and (3) quantity surveying. The winners of the Awards will be announced at the 2008 ICECCongress in Toronto, Canada.
