Thank you to everyone who made the Rise Ministry Expo a success. We saw many smiles as parishioners enjoyed food and fellowship while learning about Resurrection’s ministry opportunities. We are grateful to the volunteers who gave their time to answer questions and explain ministries to parishioners. We owe a special thank you to Jim and Becky Johnson for providing the wonderful food for the event and to Ron and Kathy Hollander for their generous donation to help offset the costs of the Expo. The Ministry Expo was an important first step in our work to ignite parishioners, as we minister together on our journey of faith. Looking forward, we ask all of our parish families to return their completed Connect Cards in the collection basket at church, at the parish office, or via mail. Even if you’re not interested in any new ministries at this time, we want to assure we have your current contact information and that we correctly identify the ministries you are currently serving in. Families who didn’t receive a Connect Card can pick one up in the church lobby or can print one from the parish website at www.resurrectionevv.com/rise. Families who missed the Ministry Expo can view a Virtual Ministry Expo video on the Resurrection Facebook page and at www.resurrectionevv.com/rise. Families with questions about specific ministries can contact the parish office at (812) 963-3121. We ask parishioners to continue prayerfully considering how each of us can Rise to the task of being all the things we want our parish to be.

THANK YOU BAKERS! Special thanks to the Resurrection parishioners who brought the desserts for Saturday’s funeral. We are very blessed to have so many generous bakers in the parish. Everything was delicious!
FALL FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We are still looking for volunteers for the 2021 Fall Festival (Oct. 4th - 9th). We especially need help in mornings/afternoons. Paper sign-up sheets are located in the church lobby, and the lobby will be open from 7a to 7p each day this week. Online sign-up sheets also can be found on the homepage of the parish website at www.resurrectionevv.com. We also need some help mixing sugar for kuchens this week. The job is easy, and we will provide the training. The schedule is flexible, and you can choose your own time slot. If you can help, contact Deb Mitchell at [email protected] or call the parish office at (812) 963-3121. Thank you to all those who have signed up to help already! We are so grateful for your gift of time.

CONGRATULATIONS TO RESURRECTION’S NEWEST ACOLYTES!
Deacon candidates Dan Niemeier and Ed Walker pose for a photo following their acolyte installation Saturday, Sept. 18th.
Resurrection parishioners, and permanent diaconate candidates, Dan Niemeier and Ed Walker were installed to the ministry of acolyte by Bishop Joseph Siegel during a Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Vincennes on Saturday, Sept. 18th. The installation marks the completion of year four in the 5-year deacon formation program. During the past four years, Dan and Ed have received advanced theological training as well as practical training for the diaconate. Dan and Ed were installed to the ministry of lector in year 3 of the formation program before their acolyte installation this year. As acolytes, Ed and Dan are instituted for service at the altar and to assist the Priest. Acolytes can prepare the altar and sacred vessels and, if necessary, distribute the Eucharist to the faithful as an extraordinary minister. Watch for Ed and Dan as they begin assisting Fr. Jerry at some of Resurrection’s Masses. The acolytes will be ordained as permanent deacons in August 2022. In his homily during the acolyte installation, Bishop Joseph challenged all candidates to use their final year of formation not as a countdown to ordination, but as a year to grow in love, devotion, and reverence to the Lord in the Eucharist by attending daily Mass if possible and in Adoration. He also encouraged the candidates to intensify their daily prayer life. Dan and Ed are both excited and honored to start assisting at the altar.
