WEEKEND MASS SCHEDULE

Beginning this Sunday, June 3rd, there will no longer be a 5 p.m. Mass. The weekend Mass schedule will be as follows: Saturday: 4 p.m. and Sunday: 8 & 10 a.m.

PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING

The Pastoral Council meeting has be rescheduled to Monday, June 25th, at 7 p.m. in the church office meeting room.

Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ

In this celebration we proclaim our belief in the Real presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. We also proclaim that same Jesus lives within each one of us who are baptized into His Body, the Church. In fact, the entire Trinity takes up residence within us and, through that life in the Church and participation in the Sacraments we can live in the Trinity. This is the mystery of what wecall communion. The Christian faith and life is about relationship, with the Father, in and through His Son Jesus and in Jesus Christ with one another for the sake of the world. The world into which we process is the world that God still loves so much that He continues to send His Son to save, recreate and transform it from within. It also reminds me of the call to continuing conversion, the universal call to holiness. Each of us who bear the name Christian are to become more like the One whom we love and in whom we live. He comes to dwell within us and we live our lives now in Him. We are "living monstrance’s", enthroning the Lord in our "hearts", which is, in biblical language, the center of the person. The Feast of Corpus Christi follows the great Feast of the Holy Trinity in order to show this profound connection. Through our continual reception of the Eucharist we are invited to live more fully in the Trinitarian communion and given the grace to do so! Jesus told his disciples "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you." We who have been given the bread of angels do have His Life within us; the very life of the God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit a communion of Divine Persons in the Perfect unity of Perfect love. The Feast of Corpus Christi reminds us that it is through the Eucharist that we “draw life” from Christ, just as he draws life from the Father. He is the “bread of life” for our own journey with its joys and sorrows we hear echoes of both the sorrow of the crucifixion and the joy of resurrection: just as Christ gave his life “for the life of the world”, so our union with him in the Eucharist calls us to live our lives for others, seeking communion with God and our fellow human beings. And within the Eucharist is the promise of “eternal life” itself.

SECOND COLLECTION FOR JUNE 9TH & 10TH

The Order of the Most Holy Trinity and of the Captives, was founded in 1198 by John De Matha and Felix of Valois, to freeing captives and performing works of mercy. Along with the Order’s mission of ransoming Christian captives, each Trinitarian Community serves the people of its area by performing works of mercy. Redemption and mercy are at the center of the Trinitarian charism.

Men: Are You Ready to Accept the Challenge?

Our communities need strong Catholic men to answer the call to lead with faith, protect our families, serve others and de-fend our values.

For over one hundred years, Knights of Columbus have done exactly that, standing up for the Church, serving the least among us, and strengthening our parishes and families.

Eligible Catholic men can now join the Knights of Columbus online in a simple, streamlined process.

As a member, you join a worldwide community of nearly two million men, including 279 men here at St. Joseph Parish and over 33,000 men here in Louisiana, who stand together. Men have a duty to lead, protect, serve and defend. The world needs more committed, unified Catholic men to answer the call. Will you answer? Visit kofc.org/joinus to learn more about the many benefits of membership in the Knights of Columbus. And don’t forget to put our council number, 5013 as your preferred council.
