select a candidate for the vacant Fire Chief position. • Completed Stuff-A-Truck event with delivery of all the food, toys,

clothes, etc. to Social Services and the Salvation Army. • Assisted with Volunteer Fire Academy “Mayday” training. • Toured the Shenandoah University Health Sciences building for

the upcoming cadaver lab training. • Researched and evaluated high rise packs for all pumpers in

order for them to be consistent across the department. • Assisted investigation into a suspicious package at a residence.

Development ServicesEconomic Redevelopment

• Held monthly Economic Development Authority (EDA) meeting. Board approved extension of the memorandum of understanding with Providence Capital Partners, LLC pertaining to the redevelopment of the Kent/Piccadilly properties.

• Spoke at the Winchester Kiwanis Club meeting about economic development in Winchester and the status of projects involving the EDA.

• Attended the Board of Architecture Review meeting to present and discuss concept renderings for the Kent/Piccadilly project. The concept renderings were endorsed by the BAR.

• Participated in the Workforce Initiative board meeting with regional partners. • Participated in the Economic Development panel for the Chamber Leadership Program.

Old Town Winchester (OTW)

Winchester/Frederick County Tourism

• Continued taking placements all week for ads in the 2019 Visitor Guide and delivering existing stock for the Christmas holiday.

• Held the Tourism Board meeting. Among other items, voted to adopt the draft version of the Strategic Plan, which will now be forwarded in the coming weeks to the City Council and County Board of Supervisors for input before crafting a final document.

• Took part in a branding committee meeting for the Winchester Regional Airport to assist with their new branding and logo development.

• Held a Chamber of Commerce Marketing and Branding Committee meeting to finalize several goals and actions for the committee in 2019.

• Pre-taped the Tourism Tuesday radio show which will air after Christmas. Special guests are representatives from First Night Winchester.

• Sent out invitation to OTW Stakeholders to attend January 3 meeting. • Selected a graphic designer and began work on 2019 OTW Shopping and Dining Guide. • Collecting data for end of year Virginia Main Street reports. • Send out “save the date” invitation to OTW Retail and Restaurants to attend a Tourism Task Force Meeting

January 22 with the organizer of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Rally. • Finalized January newsletter including outreach for business promotions for Chocolate Escape February 9. • Submitted application to apply for a $1,000 scholarship from Virginia Main Street. • Participated in Tourism Strategic Planning input session. • Announced the winners of the OTW Holiday Window Contest and publicized the results on social media. • Finalized event calendar and began work on 2019 events rack card.

Planning

• Prepared and electronically distributed agenda packet for and staffed the December 18 Planning Commission meeting which included the public hearing for the eight-story senior housing addition to the Stewart Street end of the old hospital structure. That item was tabled until the January 15 Commission meeting where a second Commission public hearing will be conducted and additional materials clarifying the extent of the waivers will be presented.

• Attended the December 19 Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Policy Board meeting where the Winchester Bike and Pedestrian Study was presented. A subsequent presentation to City Council will be made in early 2019.

• Staffed the Board of Architectural Review (BAR) meeting held on Thursday, December 20. The EPicc project at the NW corner of E. Piccadilly Street and N. Kent Street was conditionally approved with some details of the N. Kent Street elevation (e.g. window layout) to be further refined by the architect.

• Participated in the Planning Director Panel at the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program on December 21.

• Conducted final site inspection at Glaize Juicer Facility and signed off on temporary C.O. being issued for rental office use of clubhouse at Meadow Branch Ave apartment complex.

• Met with engineers and surveyors working for private property owners and developers regarding private development projects.

Public Services• City Hall renovations:  Work continues on finishing the Innovation and Information Services offices on the 4th

floor and the Council Chambers.• Met with Handley Library to discuss the upcoming HVAC replacement project.  Work on the project is

expected to begin next summer.• Reviewed the final design plans of the Hope Drive extension project with the consultant.  The project will be

• Continued phase III of Personal Property semi-annual billing change programming. • Corrected issues found in testing by departments for Personal Property semi-annual billing. • Finished upgrade of NaviLine test to HTML5 version and began testing. • Continued work on OpenData project. • Attended webinar to discuss email archiving and retrieval solutions. • Created user documentation for upcoming disaster recovery testing in January 2019. • Discussed with Parks & Recreation the need for new Wi-Fi access points in War Memorial Building.

on the waiting list for child care assistance). • Provided case management to 1 Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) case.

Council meeting in January 2019. • Continued working on promotional social media posts for the Park. • Completed January 2019 ActivitE-News. Read • Attended the Winchester Regional Airport rebranding meeting. • Sent notifications for the City’s Christmas and New Year’s schedule and posted on social media. • Reviewed first draft of the artwork for the 275th anniversary coloring book. • Working on content and reviewing layout of the new WPD microsite. Need to launch ASAP as the

current WPD site is experiencing major issues. • Promoted 2019 calendar distribution. Calendars should arrive in all 22601 mailboxes after Christmas.

Calendars will also be available for pick up at Rouss City Hall, Jim Barnett Park Rec Center, Visitor Center and Old Town Welcome Center.

• Preparing for the start of the INSIGHT Citizen’s Academy on January 3. Only a few spots remain. • Attended the EDA meeting.
