RAVENSTONE WEEKLY REVIEW
SUMMER 6Week Ending 20TH MAY 2016
Dear Parents, Welcome to Week 6 of the Summer Term Ravenstone Weekly Review. It has been another busy week with Years 3-5 completing internal assessments and Year 2 finishing their SATs, they have all worked so hard and deserve their half term break! Year 6 have started their Young Enterprise project and are busy researching ideas which will soon be in production, ready to be sold at Ravenstock on June 25th. Mr Westland gave a very informative presentation on Maths calculation, we were delighted so many parents were able to attend and grateful for the very positive feedback. As the event was so popular, Mr Westland hopes to repeat it in the Autumn with possibly an evening meeting. That event he will expect parents to complete some maths activities…! Last Saturday our swimming team competed in the heats for the Borough Championships. There was fierce competition in every race but all the children swam brilliantly. It was a nail biting time as we waited for the results to be counted up but I’m delighted to report both the boys’ and girls’ team have reached the finals yet again! I understand that we have reached the finals every year for the past 18 years, this is an amazing achievement and my special thanks go to Sarah Austin and Laura Hurley who have coached them to this consistency and excellence. Continuing with the sporting theme, we had two tennis coaches from AELTC who were ‘talent spotting’ for future Wimbledon champions and have selected a number of children to attend coaching sessions at Wimbledon. A number of our children have previously been selected and are still enjoying this expert coaching … we hope to see them gracing Centre Court in a few years! As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school as messages will always be forwarded. Best wishes, Ann-Marie Grant Executive Headteacher
