Practise adding them by making a number bond to ten first. 2 Theme: Use the word ‘and’ to join sentences when describing. For example; “I love spaghetti because it is long and squiggly. It has juicy tomato sauce and bits of lumpy beef in it. When I eat spaghetti it drips down my chin and makes spots on my clothes.

Start each line with “I can see . . .” Describe each item using adjectives. Eg. I can see an orangey carrot roof. I can see fluffy cauliflower clouds. etc. Use your sounds to help you spell out the words and try to use your best cursive writing. Can you present your poem neatly. May be you could illustrate your poem or make your own food picture.

See the page with example superhero vegetables. What might they say to keep you healthy? Use exclamation marks to emphasise what they say. Eg. EAT YOUR GREENS! EAT 5 A DAY! LOOK OUT FOR SUGARS! Etc. The last page below can be printed off to add to the speech bubbles if you want or you can make your own.

Topic: Look at the topic ideas sheet and Article of the week PowerPoint and complete some of the activities for KS1 – You do not have to do them all!

Topic There is a Powerpoint to introduce the theme this week of Rights Respecting Schools Article 24 – Health. However, if you have difficulty accessing the powerpoint here are the suggested activities for KS1. There are also some suggested art links on the topic page.

• Draw or list people who can help you stay healthy and safe. What are their jobs? • Make a list with words or pictures of as many kinds of exercise you can think of.• Set up an obstacle course and challenge someone in your house to have a go• Read the book Coronavirus: a book for children and talk about what you are doing as a family to keep healthy during this

time. • Invent a recipe for a healthy snack that you could make for your family. • Choose 10 items of food from your kitchen, can you sort them into healthy/not so healthy?• The new hospitals being built are called Nightingales. Who are they named after and what did this person do to enable the right

to good quality healthcare?• Have you taught your family to wash their hands carefully? Watch this video on YouTube. Can you make your own video or a

poster to explain how to wash hands carefully?
