MONDAY – MATHSPLACE VALUE
HTTPS://WWW.BBC.CO.UK/BITESIZE/ARTICLES/ZNCQ4XS
• I CAN USE PART-WHOLE MODEL.
MONDAY – LITERACY
• HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS
MONDAY PHONICS
CAN YOU FIND ALL THE PICTURES ON THE SHEET AND
TICK THEM OFF ON THE CHECK LIST?
MONDAY
Today we are focussing on science.
Lets experiment with gravity.
Galileo was a famous scientist in the 16th and 17th
Century. His most famous observation was that two
objects of the same size but different weights hit the
ground at the same time if they are dropped from the
same height. This happens because the force of gravity
acting on both objects is the same.
If a feather and a ball are dropped from the same
height (on Earth) they fall at different rates. This is
because the feather has more air resistance acting on it.
Air pressure acts on the feather from all directions
counteracting the force of gravity.
Galileo dropped two balls of different
weights but the same size off the
Leaning Tower of Pisa, proving that the
weight of an object doesn’t affect how
fast it falls.
However if a ball and feather are
dropped in a vacuum, where there is
no air resistance as there’s no air, the
ball and feather will hit the ground at
the same rate.
Tuesday – MathsPlace value
• I can use part-whole model.
TUESDAY – LITERACY
• I CAN IDENTIFY RHYMING WORDS.
TUESDAYToday we are focussing on history
https://www.coolkidfacts.com/isaac-newton-for-
kids/
Use this to help you find facts
about Sir Isaac Newton.
There are lots of websites you can
use.
During his lifetime Newton developed
the theory of gravity, the laws of motion
(which became the basis for physics), a
new type of mathematics called calculus,
and made breakthroughs in the area of
optics such as the reflecting telescope.
Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe,
England on January 4, 1643.
Your task is to complete the
research sheet on Sir Isaac
Newton.
You can use google to help you
find the answers.
WEDNESDAY – MATHSPLACE VALUE
• I CAN USE PART-WHOLE MODEL.
WEDNESDAY LITERACY
• I CAN CREATE MY OWN ANIMAL
RIDDLE.
WEDNESDAYToday we are focussing on drama
Today, your task is to complete a role play
and pretend you are Sir Isaac Newton!
You can chose what you role play, maybe
you could write a script first so you are
prepared?
I would chose to role play the part where
he makes his first discovery – think about
how exciting that much have been!
Think about the emotions and
what he would have said:
Happy
Excited
Elated
Scared
worried
THURSDAY – MATHSPLACE VALUE
• I CAN USE PART – WHOLE
MODEL.
THURSDAY – LITERACY
• THOUGHT BUBBLES
THURSDAYToday we are focussing on design and technology
https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/natur
e/make-a-telescope/
You Will Need
• Two empty paper towel tubes
• Scissors
• Masking tape
• Paint, markers, or crayons to decorate your
telescope
• Plastic for the lenses
Step 1 - Choose one of your tubes to be the inner tube. Cut that
tube lengthwise (all the way up the side). Wrap one edge of the
cut side slightly over the other edge and hold it in place with one
hand.
Step 2 - Insert the cut tube into the other paper towel tube. Let
go of the inner tube so that it can expand inside the outer tube. If
the inner tube is not sliding smoothly, remove it and wrap the
edge slightly tighter. Then reinsert the inner tube into the other
paper towel tube until it is just right.
Step 3 – decorate the telescope
Step 4 – attach any plastic lenses or unneeded plastic you have to
make the lenses at the end of the telescope.
FRIDAY – MATHSPLACE VALUE
• I CAN USE PART-WHOLE MODEL.
FRIDAY LITERACY
• I CAN USE ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE.
FRIDAYToday we are completing a quiz!
This is a link to the page you need to answer the
questions:
https://www.coolkidfacts.com/isaac-newton-for-
kids/
•Occupation: Scientist, mathematician, and astronomer
•Born: January 4, 1643 in Woolsthorpe, England
•Died: March 31, 1727 in London, England
•Best known for: Defining the three laws of motion and universal
gravitation
Isaac Newton is considered one of the most important scientists in history.
Even Albert Einstein said that Isaac Newton was the smartest person that
ever lived. During his lifetime Newton developed the theory of gravity, the
laws of motion (which became the basis for physics), a new type of
mathematics called calculus, and made breakthroughs in the area of
optics such as the reflecting telescope.
