Statement of Work:

To design and prototype an attitude control system (ACS) for a Cube-Sat. This ACS will align the Cube-Sat with the desired direction as supplied by the Solar Sensor through magnetorquing using the Earth’s magnetic field. Our final deliverable will be a prototype and the control software.

Questions for Vanderlei:

• Do we know the satellite’s location?  (GPS, etc)• Do we need translational force from the ACS, or just torque?  Is some unintended translation along with the rotation okay?• What is the intended time frame for the aligning the satellite?  Or is there a torque requirement?• How much tumbling is expected?• Is it viable to use superconducting coils?  Most CubeSats use copper wire, but this CubeSat may be different.• What is our power budget in relationship to other instruments on the CubeSat?• How much room are we allotted in the CubeSat for the ACS?
