Individual assignment(s) Week 3

• Task 4.1:

Watch this YouTube video on the curse of knowledge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRQnZHxN5z8. Do you think, as an engineer, this curse of knowledge often stands between you and clear communication with an end user? How do you intend to overcome this curse of knowledge in project work? Please write down your reflections in 300 words and post these reflections on your Weebly website (tab Warming up exercises – Task 4.1)

Group interaction Week 3

Group interaction for this topic: (You can use Google Hangouts, Webex or any other online tool you like)

You are still considering what project to choose from the pool of ‘real life’ project proposals. This project work will imply research, analysis and design work. Therefor we ask you to set your own goals, make your own project plan, and manage your own time and effort. Technical as well as social guidance will be provided.

Group interaction Week 3

At this point in time we invite you to select the project proposal you prefer to undertake (you can still change your decision afterwards). Get in touch with the promoter of this project and discuss the idea. Are you on the same wavelength? Make up a Launch Document as if you would choose for this project. Upon planning also keep in mind the User Centred Design process.

Group interaction Week 3

You can consult the ‘Launch Document for project work’ on Toledo for your preparation.

To plan your process you might also get inspired by the publication and tools on following website: http://www.european-project-management.eu/index.php?id=5. A lot of this information is also relevant for regular (non-European) project work.

Compile your Launch Document (max. 2 A4). Set up a Google Hangout with your group (indicated on Toledo). Present your document and interact with your fellow students in order to refine your preparation.
