Wednesday, October 16, 2019 Happy Birthday to Makayala Polka, Caleb Buchanan, Roi Postier and Keri Tendrock Happy Birthday on Thursday to Mrs. Hoekstra All NEW items for each day are highlighted THIS WEEK: 1) Congratulations to the math team that competed in Iowa City this weekend. Kaden Sadler, Ethan Schlichte, and Adrian Carmenate earned individual awards at the competition. 2) Sophomores – Please see your school email in regards to open parking spots. 3) Congratulations to the Girls swim team for their dominating performance last night beating East on senior night 141 to 39. The girls’ team wrapped up a third consecutive regular season conference title by winning and now focus on next week’s conference championship meet, attempting to win that for the third straight year as well. Good luck swimmers! 4) If you are interested in wrestling this year there will be a meeting in Coach Mehrhoff's room at 7:30 on Monday, October 21. You can get the practice gear flyers from Coach Mehrhoff. 5) The Pre Mock Trial season is going to be starting soon! All students who have been in Mock Trial in the past and those who are interested in Mock Trial this year should come to find out what it's all about and see if this is an activity that you would like to be a part of once our official season begins. The pre-season practices will be held on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 PM in the library beginning October 21. If you are new to Mock Trial or need more information, please stop by and talk to Mrs. Barker in room 119. Attorneys Matt Laughlin and Elizabeth Kellner-Nelson are our attorney coaches. 6) The #2 Ranked Wildcats had a historic night at the RRC XC Meet in Winterset. Both the Varsity and the JV teams brought home their 4th-Straight RRC Titles! The Varsity Boys won with a low score of 27. The Cats had 6 All-Conference performers, led by Kolby Fritz in 2nd place, Kyle Miller in 3rd, and Brandon Kesner in 4th. Not far behind were Ethan Schlichte in 8th, Nate Norton in 10th, and Kaden Sadler in 17th. Also with a top 20 finish was Tristen Kessler. The JV team perfect scored their way to the JV Title with 15 points. The JV team was led by individual champion Hunter Snyder. Right behind Hunter were Keith Christenson in 2nd, Logan Howard in 3rd, Mason Ramsey in 4th, Quinten Kessler in 5th, and Raymond Birech in 7th. Also grabbing top 20 spots in the JV race were Quincy Griffin in 11th, Brayden Kessler in 12th, Lincoln Eighmy in 16th, and Tyler Crall in 17th. 17 Runners ran their season’s best times tonight. Tyler Crall joins the Sub-20 Club in his final HS XC race. Ethan Schlichte joined the Sub-18 Club tonight. Keenan Richards, James Gano, and Wyatt Sobieszkoda all joined the Sub-21 Club tonight. These 5 runners have the distinction of improving their time each and every meet throughout the entire season: Raymond Birech, Keenan Richards, Adrian Carmenate, Wyatt Sobieszkoda, and Carter Glawe. Last but not least, Kolby Fritz became a 4-time All-Conference runner tonight and Kyle Mille became a 3- Timer! 7) The #14 Wildcat Girls Cross Country squad placed 3 nd at the RRC Championships only one point back of runner-up Winterset. 3A #1 Ballard won the team title with a tremendous score of 23 points. 3A #1 Ainsley Erzen continued her dominating season with a 20 second victory in a new course record time of 18:56 to win back-to-back individual titles to start her career. Erzen’s win makes it the 4 th consecutive year that the Wildcats have had the individual champion. Tessa Erzen was the other Wildcat receiving All-Conference honors with a 10 th place finish. Riley Sievers and Ella Andersen came in close together just off of All-Conference placings. Laura Downs and Abook Dok followed up their breakout races from last week with another solid performance to close out the wildcat scoring. The junior varsity team was also able to grab a 3 rd place finish. This was the first time in recent memory that the Wildcats have been able to field a complete scoring junior varsity team, and they showed they certainly belong. Sage Austin, Bella Pagel, and Maria Kuittinen all came in within 6 seconds of each other to start off the scoring. 30 seconds back was Mady Taylor who closed hard to pass several other runners in the final stretch. Closing out the junior varsity portion was Assem Imankarina and Hannah McGraw. They would like volunteers on Friday, November 1 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the North

15) Sophomore students only - If you are interested in attending the Iowa HOBY three day leadership conference for

CHS in the summer of 2020, please check your email or come to the office for more information.

16) Job opportunity - The Food and Nutrition department at Carlisle Wellness and Rehab is looking for two or

three young adults to fill a night time position. The hours for that position would be 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This job

would require them to set tables for evening meal service, filling and refilling their refreshments, assisting with

menu selections, assist when their meal needs ( cutting meat, dressing a baked potato, etc.), restocking cooler with

thickened items for next meal, recording intakes, clearing dining room, washing tables and dishes. They will also

clean dish room and close kitchen for evening. These positions would require compassion, a good work ethic, and

abiding by the HIPPA regulations. This would also require a TB test, physical, and a background check. Please
