Our 28 swimmers representing Tocumwal Public School performed admirably throughout the day giving their very best in all races as we knew they would. All swimmers showed great determination and sportsmanship. This year they again shone wearing the team attire in shirts and new blue swimming caps. They looked awesome. The Tocumwal students supported each other, cheering and chanting bringing their team mates home in all races. As a result, we won the overall championship team for the day. This makes it 5 years in a row. An extremely impressive effort by all students! In addition, three individual highlights were: Logan White awarded Junior Boys Zone Champion, Remmi Wardlaw awarded 11 Years Girls Zone Champion and Jackson Bury being awarded Senior Boys Zone Champion. Well done to all of them for their individual achievements. A big thank you to all of our carnival parent helpers on the day including those who took on the stopwatches. We are so very grateful for your support and positive vibes. Western Riverina AFL Trials On Monday afternoon a number of our students tried out for the Finley Zone AFL team to play in the Western Zone AFL trials in Leeton on March 22nd. The students were put through their paces at the Berrigan Football oval under the watchful eyes of the selectors. They needed to display the fundamentals of kicking, bouncing, handballing, tackling and shepherding as part of the trials. At the end of the session 5 students from Tocumwal Public School were selected into the team. The successful students were: Hunter Hardwidge, Joe Barker, Jackson Bury, Brock Bear and Kane Wardlaw. Congratulations to these students and good luck at the next level. Well done to all those students who tried out.

Brian Taber Shield This Friday 9th March, our Boy’s Cricket Team will play in the first round of the Brian Taber Shield against a combined Jerilderie, Berrigan, Oaklands and Urana side in Jerilderie. The bus will leave the school at 9am and return back to school before 3pm. We wish the team the best of luck. Skoolbag App Skoolbag is our parent communication app for parents and caregivers of students from our school. This app has many functions from being able to alert parents from individual classes or the whole school of events that are coming up or to notify if the bus is running late home from an excursion. It uses free push notification alerts. It will have the latest newsletter for you to view as well as having the functionality for parents to send an absentee note directly to school if your child is away. Our aim is to further develop our communication between school and home. School Fees Attached to Newsletter in week 3 was the 2018 School Fee contribution form. This also takes into account the cost of text books and consumables. It also has the option to buy a Riversider (School Magazine 2018) at a reduced price at the start of the year. It would be appreciated if you could return the form to the school office with your payment promptly. We thank you in advance for your contribution. Moving into Year 7 in a NSW Government School in 2019 Today, students in Year 6 received an information guide and expression of interest form for parents and carers. Regardless of where your child may be attending next year could all parents return the completed sections relevant to their intentions on or before Friday 16th March. Thank you. Change of Routine If your child is not going home the usual way they do every other day, they must have written permission from their parents. If the change requires them to catch the bus, a note must be supplied to hand to the teacher on bus duty. The bus company should also be contacted so the driver is aware of the change. Parents can also call the office and leave a message for their child if their normal home time routine needs to change.
