TAKINGITGLOBAL Youth-based website with a goal to ‘inspire,

inform and involve’ (tigweb.com, 2011). Not an organization which has presence in

communities, such as the Peace Corps or Unicef, but a resource for anyone or any group who wants to make a global difference.

Site also contains headlines and information on global youth issues, interactive advocacy games, and statistical information on countries.

Fun, bright, creative presentation. Inviting to guests, functional display, user

friendly.

NUTS AND BOLTS Website encourages visitors to become a member

and create a profile. A necessity in today’s information-sharing society, but only a few that I checked take part in this feature.

Having a profile is a phenomenal tool in assembling groups to wage advocacy.

Encourages youth-engagement and what a fantastic way to empower them.

Indicates how many members originate from the country you are searching and how many of those members are currently online.

Extensive action items for individuals, organizations and educators.

It’s also translated into several different languages.

TAKING IT GLOBAL…TO AFRICAMy region of choice is Africa with an emphasis on youth education. This prompted me to conduct searches on this specific topic. My experience in doing so was quite impressive.

First, each time I went to a different page, I was greeted in a different language!

Conducting a search for Africa on tigweb.org not only returns information that TakingITGlobal is participating in, but information that other groups are doing as well.

TakingITGlobal has also developed their own simple reference system called a TIG Tag. It’s a one word reference to simplify future searching. Magnificent!
