Small body of water which attracts other little bodies with dry shoes.” Dear Parents We are in the process of making some videos to help parents at home with reading tips. These involve a single child or group of children. The parents of these children will be directly approached to make sure they give permission for their child to 'star' in a video clip. These videos will be available on our website shortly. We are also hoping to include a similar series of helpful videos for maths in the near future. As part of our teacher professional development programme, each teacher will be taking part in their annual appraisal process. This involves gathering information within their own class and will include photos and videos of the children working. This information is for teacher and DPs only and is used to reflect on improving the systems or programmes within each class. At the end of the school year when these videos and photos are no longer required, the teacher will delete or attach to their personal appraisal document. Have you changed address lately or do you have a new cell phone number? Please let the office know so we can update our records. It is important we can get hold of parents in the event of an emergency. A sneak preview of the upstairs in the new building. The green room is at one end. The second photo is taken in the middle room and shows the view through the wet area, which is lino, and down to the blue room at the end. There will be more concrete poured outside tomorrow and again next Wednesday. Still no finish date but it is getting closer. So is Christmas I hear you say.

Can I make a plea for parents not to make a U-turn in front of our school crossing on Greenhithe Road? Parents are still dropping children at the bus stop outside Barrie’s shed and then making a U-turn directly in front of the crossing. This is an accident waiting to happen. Our school road patrol constable will be visiting and observing over the next few weeks to ensure we have safety in this area. We do have a safe dropping off area in the lower carpark. I have included some messages below from children. They say things so much better than I can. Have a great fortnight. Regards Peter Marshall My name is Charlie and I am on Road Patrol on Greenhithe Road. This is a very busy road! It is a big responsibility to get people across to school safely. Some people are dropping their kids off at the bus stop and then u-turning right in front of the crossing. This is DANGEROUS! When you indicate to leave, I think you are driving up towards the village, but actually you are u-turning. If some cars are speeding down the road, they might crash in to you. It is also tricky for me to sometimes know what is happening! One day 3 cars were on the bus stop and the bus had to stop in the middle of the road to let people off. Next time, don't go parking on the bus stop to drop your kids off, instead go to the pick up and drop off zone on Sunnyview Road. Or drop them by Wainoni Heights and then they can walk the rest of the way and still cross safely at Isobel Road. Thanks –Charlie
The Mountain Bike Team is growing rapidly. The last two weeks we have had 11 kids and more parents have come along too. On Monday we did skills training at Collins park. Thanks to Elroy's Dad who brought along his practice ramps we did some balance training. If anyone else would like to join Girls, Boys and Parents are welcome. NETBALL/HOCKEY
Netball teams have been announced today. Your child should have a letter and a team list in their bag so keep an eye out for that. If your child has been placed in a team without a coach, can you please consider taking on this role.
Hockey teams will be announced next week. We desperately need two more Year 5 boys to fill a team, so if you are interested please email Stacey Griffiths our Hockey Coordinator [email protected]
SWIMMING
Last Thursday a team of 26 children participated in the Inter School Swimming sports at Coatesville School. Greenhithe School had an amazing day coming away for the third year in a row with Overall Best Performing School and with the Relay Cup. Congratulations to all of the children who competed – we are all so proud of you. I would also like to thank all the wonderful parents who helped on the day with transport/time keeping or recording. The Shore to Shore Fun Run is a fun event which runs from Takapuna Grammar School to Milford Reserve. All entries earn school sports equipment for their school.
The school will provide a free sausage sizzle and water for all entries at our school.
This year the event is on Sunday 9th April 2017 starting at 9.00 a.m. for the timed race and 9.15 a.m. for the non- timed race.
Registrations are now open to enter the 5km fun run, just follow the link to enter-

The school will be responsible for picking up your race numbers and timing chips the week before the race, and getting them to you.

Disneys the Little Mermaid Junior - Auditions Disneys the Little Mermaid Junior will be on at the Playhouse from 15/7 to 22/7. This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award® winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. Disney’s The Little Mermaid Junior takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice. Auditions will start on the 1st of April with a dance workshop at 9.00am (finishing at 10.30am) this will be followed by individual auditions on the 1st and 2nd of April, with callbacks if
necessary on 4th of April. These will be held at The Playhouse Theatre, 15 Glendale Rd, Glen Eden For your audition you will need sheet music for a song you would like to sing.
