GIZ: Access to energy for displaced peopleand host communities

Energie in der GIZ17.03.2017

Trying to bridge the gap between humanitarian aid a nd development cooperation. Elements of possible GIZ approaches:

Integrate medium to long-term market-based approaches in protracted crisis situations,

Provide integrated approaches to refugees/internally displaced persons and host communities,

 Offer technical and vocational training,

 Support private-sector development,

 Introducing cash-for-work measures

Implement activities in a way that is environmentally friendly and based on do-no-harm approaches

Improve access to sustainable cooking energy by introducing improved stoves and alternative fuels, increasing the sustainable woodfuel supply by introducing woodlots and crops that can be also used as fuels (such as pigeon peas),

Improve access to electricity for homes, streets and social institutions

 Promote productive use of energy
