Tenix Defence - Aerospace DivisionSEAHAWK FLIR/ESM AVIONICS UPGRADE PROGRAM PROJECT SEA-1405

Tenix Defence Aerospace Division is the Prime Contractor for the installation of a Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) System and an Electronic Support Measures (ESM) suite into the Royal Australian Navy fleet of 16 S-70B-2 (Sikorsky Seahawk) helicopters. The upgrade includes: Raytheon AAQ-27 3FOV FLIR, Elisra AES-210 ESM/RWR, Northrop Grumman AAR-54 Passive Missile Approach Warning System and the Tracor ALE-47 Countermeasure Dispenser System.

Systems Engineering Manager Project management and specification of Transfield Systems Website. Attended 7th World ITS Congress Turin, Italy. Designed and implemented Systems Engineering intranet environment based on the EIS-731.1

Systems Engineering Capability Model. Developed web applications, active server pages and intranet tools. Integrated intranet tools, version control systems, databases and web servers. TransLink Systems Pty Ltd was the prime contractor and system integrator of the Electronic Tolling and Traffic Management Systems for the Melbourne City Link Project. The Roadside System was supplied by Combitech Traffic Systems AB and integrated by TLS. The Roadside System includes over 600,000 eTags, 17 Tolling Gantries and 8 Roadside Electronic Toll Collection Systems.

Telstra Applied Technologies was the prime contractor for the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN), an over-the-horizon radar system for the defence of Australia.

JORN Data Systems Development Manager Established the JORN Data Systems Development Group. Provided training in data modelling, database design/administration skills. Responsible for the design and development of the JORN Configuration Management Information

System (CMIS). Performed conceptual and physical data modelling for CMIS. Developed CMIS with PowerBuilder and Oracle using object-oriented methodologies. Developed Requirements Traceability and Verification Tools for RTM

Aerospace Technologies of AustraliaCOMSEC PROJECT

The purpose of the RAAF COMmunications SECurity Monitoring System (COMSEC) was to monitor and classify, for internal security purposes, Australian Defence Forces radio communications. COMSEC consisted of a remote receiving system, inter-communications system and six operator/analyst workstations.

Conducted the preliminary and critical design reviews to MIL-STD-1521B. Supervised equipment installation and cable looming. Performed hardware/software integration. Rockwell InternationalSEAHAWK PROJECT

The Royal Australian Navy specified the integration of a Role Adaptable Weapons System into the Sikorsky Seahawk S-70B-2 helicopter. The system allows the helicopter to perform Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti-Surface Ship Targeting (ASST).

Avionics Systems Integration Engineer - Seahawk Assigned to Rockwell's Collins Government Avionics Division, Hot Bench Test Facilities in Cedar

Rapids, Iowa, USA. Integrated the Seahawk avionics suite. In all, over 25 different avionics assemblies were set to work

using a variety of analogue, digital and RF interconnections including a MIL-STD-1553 multiplex data bus.

Used simulators, stimulators and special-to-type test equipment to demonstrate system compliance to specifications prior to installation in the airframe.

Prepared test procedures and software trouble reports. Performed hardware and software testing on the system. Performed customer acceptance testing. Developed an automated message verification system and a number of real-time avionics simulations

for the MIL-STD-1553B bus using programmable bus emulators. Participated in the resolution of software problems. Assigned to United Technologies Sikorsky Aircraft, in Connecticut Supported the avionics installation, ramp and flight testing of the Rockwell system in the Sikorsky S-

70B-2 helicopter.

Aerospace Technologies of AustraliaJINDIVIK PROJECT

The Jindivik remotely piloted target aircraft was operated by the Royal Australian Navy at its Jervis Bay Range Facility (JBRF) in NSW. Jindivik could simulate the approach of a wide range of airborne threats and was used by the navy to maintain combat readiness.

Senior Systems Engineer - Jindivik Conducted functional analysis of JBRF operations and interface analysis of fleet operations. Produced designs and specifications for the future Jindivik Aerial Target System. Designed and developed a real-time flight simulation program for Jindivik. Using Object Pascal for

Windows, it included a simulation engine and flight controls display. Demonstrated the simulation system at JBRF. The simulation results correlated favourably with

recorded telemetry from the aircraft. Designed parts of the Jindivik Digital Autopilot containing data acquisition, flight control, command

and telemetry processors. Performed multi-path fading analysis on the Jindivik Telecommand link using VCCALC®.

Nulka Active Expendable Decoy Vehicle Ikara M7 Anti-Submarine Guided Weapon

NULKA PROJECT

Nulka, and its predecessor Winnin, is an All Weather Active Expendable Decoy Vehicle for deployment on navy vessels threatened by attack from guided missiles.

Avionics Systems Engineer - Nulka Designed and integrated a Thrust Vector Control Actuator Drive Sub-System. Designed and integrated a non-volatile RAM sub-system. Designed digital electronics and printed circuit boards. Coded and tested assembly language operational flight software. Performed microprocessor in-circuit emulation. Tested and maintained the Nulka Flight Control Electronics package during the

HardWare-In-Loop/Hybrid Computer integration testing.

M7 IKARA PROJECT

The M7 Ikara was proposed as a box-launched version of its predecessor, the M3 Ikara, a rocket launched anti-submarine guided missile carrying a Mk46 Torpedo. The new Ikara was to have a digital autopilot and revamped avionics suite.

Avionics Systems Engineer - Ikara Designed an efficient, digital servomotor controller for driving flight control surfaces. Used microprocessor in-circuit emulation techniques. Integrated and successfully demonstrated the operation of the new controller.
