Learning Task: You may use magazines books and the media to help you. – Each part of Europe has its own dishes. Spain which is traditionally known as the kingdom of Spain is a country in South-western Europe that has 17 different regions including two different archipelagos: The Canary Islands off the coast of Africa, and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. Traditional cooking methods involve, stewing, baking, grilling, boiling and frying. Meals are eaten a minimum of three times a day – Breakfast which are small and light, Lunch which is the largest meal of the day and often 3 courses and Dinner that is often eaten between 9 –11pm. Spanish people will often have small meals or snacks in between these as food is a very big part of their culture and social side as well as the times that they eat runs along their days. School in Spain will start at 8.00am and they will carry on having lessons until 1.30pm and then leave for lunch and have this at home. Make a list of 3 classic dishes that Spain is famous for Find out what is drunk with meals – Spain produces a lot of this and many parents drink this What do they traditionally eat food with? Can you name some traditional ingredients found in Spanish Cuisine? Do you know what thin strips or loops of dough that is fried is called? Name the rice used in a famous Spanish dish?
