MONTHLY REPORT – SEPTEMBER 2019
Teachers’ Day celebration was held on 5.9.19 organised by students of the college where
students remarked on the significance of Teachers’ Day and the role of teachers.
JSS Law College ‘Law Review Club’ was inaugurated on 6.9.19 by Ms M.S. Savitri,
Senior Advocate and Mediator in the presence of Dr S. Nataraju, Principal and Sri
S.Nagendra, Coordinator. Mr C. Thapo Shresthta, President (Student), Miss Anindita
Angadi, Secretary (student) and other staff and students were also present.
Staff meeting was convened on 6.9.19.
JSS Law College (Autonomous) signed MOU with Yi-YUVA (a wing of Confederation of
Indian Industries) on 6.9.19.
Sri Surendra, Chair Yi-YUVA delivered a talk on topic ‘Public Speaking’ in JSS Law college
on 6.9.19.
Smt M. Tejaswini attended One day State Level Faculty Development Programme on
Emotional Literacy and Dynamics in Teaching held and organised by Sheshadripuram First
Grade College, Mysuru on 7.9.19.
Onam Celebrations was held in the college on 7.9.19 organised by students from Kerala
adhering to the traditional way of celebration such as wearing of traditional outfits,
cultural events and Onam Sandya feast for students and staff of the college.
The students of first year B.A., LL.B, B.B.A., LL.B and LL.B participated in the Personality
Development Programme at Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education
(RIMSE, Mysuru on 7.9.19 and 14.9.19 (in batches). The programme was coordinated by
Sri A. T. Jagadish, Smt N. Sunitha and Smt M.S. Nandhini.

Prof M.M. Prabhuswamy attended One day Workshop on Labour Codes organised by
EDIN Synergy on 12.9.19 at Preethi International Hotel, Mysuru.
JSS Law College Rotaract Club Installation ceremony of the Office bearers for the year
2019-20 was held on 12.9.19 in Silver Jubilee Hall at 4:00pm. The program started with
calling of the dignitaries and they were received by Director and Co-director of Sergeant
at Arms. The Chief Guest was Rtn. Zeb Waturruocha, professor at IIM Ahmedabad,
installing officer was Rtn. Udai S Kumar, President Rotary Mysore North, Prof M. P.
Nagendramurthy, faculty Co-ordinator was the Guest of Honour. They were accompanied
by Rtn. Ravi K, Secretary Rotary Mysore North; Rtn Mahaveer, Rotract Chairman Rotary
Mysore North, Rtr. Abhijith M S, Zonal Rotract Representative, Rtr. Gagan Shetty,
President 2018-19, Rtr. S R Soorya Patel, President 2019-20 and Rtr. Neelagowri B C,
Secretary 2019-20. Also Presidents and Secretaries of other Rotary Club of Mysore were
invited.
o After the formal inauguration, the secretarial report was presented by Rtr.
Bhuvana who read out the projects taken up by the Club during the previous
year. Rtr. Gagan Shetty gave the farewell speech. The Chief Guest announced the
newly reconstituted President and Board of Directors for the year 2019-20. This

was followed by Oath taking ceremony by the newly reconstituted members. The
formal program was concluded with the vote of thanks and followed by Cultural
activities.
Mentor-Mentee meeting was held on 13.9.19.
Dr S. Nataraju, Principal attended the Principal’s Meet convened by Director, College
Education Division, JSSMVP held at JSSMVP, Mysuru on 14.9.19.
Dr N. Vani Shree, Smt Swapna Jangamshetti and students of the college attended and
also put up a stall to show case the scope and career prospects in Law during ‘The Career
Fest 2019’, organised by Excel Public School on 14.9.19 near Belwadi Post, Mysuru.
Rotaract Club of JSS Law College organized project ‘NALI KALI with RCJSSLC’ for the
children of Mavudigas in Mysore Palace on 14.9.19 to spread happiness and motivate
children about education. This is the first project for the academic year 2019-20 mainly to
take part in the community service in the Mavuta quarters of Mysore palace, where the
Muvudiga's families from Dubare had come with elephants for Dasara occasion.
Exhibition cum Sale on was organised by Smt. Tejaswini, Course Teacher – Human
Resource Management and students of III Semester B.B.A., LL.B on 14.9.2019 at Silver
Jubilee Hall.
Smt P. Ashwini, Coordinator – Moot Club along with Student Coordinators of Moot Club
conducted a training session on ‘Memorial Writing’ for the Moot Club members on
16.9.19.
Prof P. Shivanada Bharathi delivered guest lecture on ‘Business Ethics’ addressing
students of Gems ‘B’ School, Mysuru on 16.09.19.

Research Group-ORGAN conducted a Debate Competition on the topic Article 370:
Abrogation of Article 370 is a step forward towards one nation on 16.9.19 and around 30
students participated in it.
Smt Sheela Ganesh published research article titled ‘Indian Food Security Scenario and
Access to Nutritional Food for All (Especially Women and Children) – Vision 2030
Pragmatism’, in the International Journal of Law, Education, Social and Sports Studies
(IJLESS), Volume: 6, Issue 3, 2019 (July-Sept), ISSN: 2455-0418 (Print), 2394-9724 (online).
Career Guidance programme was organised by Dr N. Vani Shree, Chairman PG
Department and Smt Tejashwini, Coordinator – Placement Cell on 17.9.19, alumni Mr
Raghav N Prasad, doing clerkship in Supreme Court of India was the Speaker, who spoke
on career opportunities available to a law graduate in areas like Supreme Court Clerkship,
JAG exams in Indian Army and other avenues of law. The speaker further gave first hand
information about the exams, interview, medical examination, training and posting. Also
gave guidance on various other avenues such as practice, judicial exams, ADRs, Public
Sector Units, Competitive Exams, scope of law in IPR, Cyber law, forensics etc.
Dr S. Nataraju, Principal participated in the interactive session on ‘Introduction to
Incentive Scheme – scope for study’ in relation to Higher Education Institutions,
organised by JSSMVP, Mysuru on 17.9.19 in which trainers from M/s Ernst & Young LL.P,
Bengaluru were the speakers to the programme.
Educational visit to JSS Medical College, Mysuru’s Forensic Medicine Laboratory,
Museum and Mortuary was arranged and coordinated by Smt Sheela Ganesh, Course
Teacher – Economic Offences on 19.9.19 for Vth Semester B.A and B.B.A., LL.B students of
the college.

Foreign National Students’ meeting was convened on 20.9.19 by Smt G. Asmathunnisa,
Coordinator – Foreign National Students’ Cell.
Prof P. Shivanda Bharathi delivered guest lecture addressing students of ICWAI, Mysuru
on 20.9.19.
In view of the founders’ day JSS Law College has organised the 104 th Birthday
Celebrations of Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji on 21.09.19. The programme
was organised during the weekly assembly at 9.30am at the college quadrangle by
offering puja and floral tribute to the portrait of His Holiness by staff. On this occasion
Prof K.S. Suresh, Chief Executive briefed the importance of Jayanthi Celebrations. Dr S.
Nataraju, Principal spoke on the occasion and narrated the contributions of His Holiness
to the society in general and to field of education in particular. On this occasion the
students who has secured highest marks was honoured through the cash prize
(endowment cash prize) contributed by Sri Duggatti P Veerabhadrappa Pratistana. The
programme was followed by cultural events and distribution of sweets to the students.
JSS Law College under Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) had organised a Half-a-day
Workshop on ‘Evolving Course Objectives, Course Outcomes and Question Paper Setting

Methods’ on 21.09.19 at 10.00am - Seminar Hall, coordinated by Smt. Sheela Ganesh.
Nearly 40 participants were present for the workshop including faculty members of JSS
Law College, JSS sister concern institutions and Vidhyavardhaka Law College, Mysuru. Dr.
B. Kanmani, Professor and Head of Telecommunications Engineering, BMS College of
Engineering, Bengaluru was invited to be the Speaker for the Workshop, who is well
known for effective implementation of Outcomes Based Education. Workshop began
10.00am with Welcome Speech by Dr. S. Nataraju, Principal, followed by Prof. K.S.
Suresh, Chief Executive’s remark, wherein he highlighted the need for organising such
academic events and also spoke on the Workshop’s theme.
o Dr. B. Kanmani handled the technical session on Evolving Course Objectives,
Course Outcomes and Question Paper Setting Methods covering the following
areas: The need, meaning and benefits of Outcomes Based Education (OBE);
misconception on the infrastructure requirement for implementing OBE; some
international conventions where India is a signatory; Programme Outcomes
defined by NBA and how to develop it – apply knowledge, problem analysis,
design/development of solution, conduct investigations, use modern tool,

engineering and society, environment and sustainability, professional ethics,
individual and team work, communicate effectively, project management and
finance, life-long learning; areas of successful implementation of OBE; models of
Vision, Mission and Programme Outcomes of some renowned Law colleges;
about Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs); examples of PEOs to be
avoided; challenges in developing Programme Outcomes (POs); characteristics of
Course Outcomes (apply knowledge, analyse, design, conduct investigations, use
modern tools, engineering and society, environment and sustainability,
professional ethics, individual and team work, communicate effectively, project
management and finance, life-long learning); defining outcomes; CO-PO
mapping; Question Paper design; curriculum designing; CO attainment; PO
attainment.
o ‘Implementation of OBE by faculty leads to improvement in student performance
and leads to accreditation of the program’. The workshop was interactive,
beneficial and received good response from the participants. The workshop
concluded with vote of thanks and distribution of Certificates.
Smt P. Ashwini, Coordinator – Moot Club organised a training session on ‘Client
Counselling’ for the moot club members on 21.9.19.
Mr. Suresh Kumar Physical Education Director participated as a selection committee
member in Karnataka State Law University Inter Collegiate Women Volley Ball
Tournament cum selection trials held on 21.9.19 at RV Law College, Bengaluru.
JSS Law College under Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) had organised Symposium
‘Impingement of Social Sciences on Law’ on 23.9.19 at 10.00am – Silver Jubilee Hall,
coordinated by Prof M.M. Prabhuswamy, Prof S. Nagendra, Smt M.S. Nandhini and Smt
N. Sunitha. Nearly 225 participants were present for the Symposium including faculty
members of JSS Law College and 8 participants presented papers. The programme began
with an invocation by Miss Prajna. Dr S. Nataraju, Principal welcomed the gathering. The
Chief Guest Dr C.K. Renukarya, Director, P.G. Department of Economics, Mahajana
College, Mysuru inaugurated the Symposium and gave the inaugural address. Prof K.S.
Suresh made the Presidential Remarks and Smt N. Sunitha rendered Vote of Thanks.

o The first technical session was handled by Dr C.K. Renukarya, Director, P.G.
Department of Economics, Mahajana College, Mysuru, on the topinc ‘Digital
Economy – Problems and Perspectives’. The second technical session was
addressed by Dr Nagalingappa, Research Consultant on the topic ‘Business
Environment’. The third technical session was addressed by Dr Krishna Hombale,
Chairman, DoS in Political Science, University of Mysore on the topic
‘Supranationalism and Inter Government Policies’. In the last technical session
Mr Raghu, Consultant, spoke on the importance of Effective Communication.

Smt M.S. Nandini presented a co-authored paper on the topic ‘Ambiguity in language and
misunderstanding in law’ during the Symposium on ‘Impingement of Social Sciences on
Law’ organised and held at JSS Law College, Mysuru on 23.9.19.
Smt G. Asmathunnisa presented a co-authored paper on the topic ‘Issues and challenges
in Mobile Banking in India: A customer perspective’, during the Symposium on
‘Impingement of Social Sciences on Law’ organised and held at JSS Law College, Mysuru
on 23.9.19.
Healthy Population Awareness Exhibition was organised by Smt Tejaswini, Course
Teacher – Economic Development of India and students of III Semester B.A., LL.B on
24.9.19 at Silver Jubilee Hall.
Smt P.Ashwini, Coordinator – Moot Club conducted Legal Crossword Puzzle Competition
on 24.9.19.
Smt P. Ashwini, Course Teacher – Media and Law had arranged Field Visit to Akashvani,
Mysuru for VII Semester B.A and B.B.A., LL.B students on 24.9.29 and 25.9.19.
Smt M.C. Usharani attended Sexual Harassment Enquiry Committee meeting at CFTRI,
Mysuru on 25.9.19 and 26.9.19.
Smt M.S. Nandhini delivered a special lecture on ‘Basic Grammar’ with special stress on
verbs for the under Graduate students at JSS Womens’ College, Kollegal on 27.9.19.

Mithanthaya of V Semester B.B.A., LL.B participated in the CONCORDAT – 2019: National
Deal Negotiation and Mediation Competition jointly organised by IFIM Law College,
Lawoctopus, Thiru and Thiru Law Firm, BIAMA CC and the PACT held during 7.9.19 and
8.9.19 at IFIM Law College, Bengaluru. The team had secured first place in the
competition awarded with Rs. 10,000/- cash prize along with an offer to pursue
internship at Thiru and Thiru Law Firm.
College Throw Ball team participated in Mysore City Inter Collegiate Throw Ball
Tournament held on 9.9.19 at Sheshadripuram First Grade College, Hebbal, Mysore.
College Shuttle Badminton and Table Tennis teams participated in Mysore City Inter
Collegiate Shuttle Badminton Tournament held on 11.9.19 at NIE College, Mysore.
The College Basket Ball Team participated in Karnataka State Law University Inter
Collegiate Basket Ball Tournament held on 12.9.19 and 13.9.19 at BMS College of Law
Bangaluru. Mr Isaac of V Semester B.A., LL.B student has selected for Karnataka State
Law University Basket Ball Team.
The College Volley Ball Team participated in Karnataka State Law University Inter
Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament held on 18.9.19 and 19.9.19 at Govt. Law Hassan.
Mr.Harshith of I Semester B.A., LL.B student has selected for Karnataka State Law
University Volley Ball Team.
Miss Mariyam Rula Irshad, Miss Pavni Randeo and Miss M. Rachana of VII Semester
B.B.A., LL.B participated in Surana and Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Competition
jointly organised by Surarna and Surana International Attorneys and Bharathi Vidyapeeth
Deemed to be University New Law College, Pune held at West Rounds, Pune from
20.9.19 to 22.9.19. Miss Mariyam Rula Irshad won 4th Best Student Advocate title.

Miss V. Sridevi of I Semester LL.B won first prize in the Legal Database Competition held
on 21.9.19 conducted as part of Library Competition.
Miss C. Supritha and Miss Kaveri G. Kuruvatti of V Semester B.B.A., LL.B participated in
the CUSAT MUN – 2019 2nd Edition competition held from 20.9.19 to 22.9.19 at CUSAT,
Cochi. Miss C. Supritha secured Honourable Mention with the portfolio of Nirmala
Sitharaman and Miss Kaveri G. Kuruvatti secured verbal mention with the portfolio of
Debashree Chaudhary.
College Chess Men and Women Teams participated in Mysore City Inter Collegiate Chess
Tournament held on 23.9.19 at Somani B.Ed College, Mysore.
The College Table Tennis Men and Women Teams participated in Karnataka State Law
University Inter Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament held on 25.9.19 and 26.9.19 at SJR
College of Law Bangaluru.
