I put competent for all of the competencies under A except for A-4-4. I believe I am competent in all of these except for A-4-4, but I have not yet reached a standard of excellence which should come with practice.Like A, I put competent for all of B. There is still room for improvement to excellence. In C, the only one I put as excellent was C-5-1. I think I have excellent competence in the use of PPE. The rest of C there is room for improvement from competent to excellent.D is all about communication. I think that I am competent in communication but I’m not yet excellent at it. D-2 I think I have achieved excellence in because I appropriately establish, maintain and close the nursing care with all of my clients that I have had in clinical experienceThis competency will always be in development. I have not yet been able to join any committees, or task forces yet because I have not had a job as a nurse yet, I also have not been involved in any professional activities yet as a student. I think there will be lots of opportunity to improve this as I get into the work force and am able to participate in these programs. My advocacy for clients needs some improvement. I think this is one of the competencies that there will always be a chance to improve on as you continue as a nurse. As a student right now I am unsure of how to advocate for my client. I did have a chance to do this in my medicine clinical but this has been my only experience with it so far, so I definitely have room for improvement.W-1-3, W-2-3, W-3, W-9-4, and W-11 I have rated all with competent, these again are fields that I believe I have not yet reached excellence in, but will possibly achieve these as I continue my career as a nurse.

X-7-1X-7-3X-7-4

Both X-3-5 and X-4 I have rated competent, again like above I think I will develop excellence in these competencies as I continue learning in my career as a nurse. All of these last three competencies I have rated a 5. Throughout my career, these 3 will always be in development. Right now I don’t feel competent enough to teach another nurse anything but as I get more experience and, this will come in each competency.

competencies under A. I have to use my nursing knowledge every day in clinical and in school for assignments and tests.During clinical I was able to use the competencies under B. The nursing process was used every day and helped me to decide on how to take care of my patients and what was most important to deal with.In clinical practice and labs I used safety every time to ensure that no one was hurt or that I didn’t hurt myself. Safety I think is the most important part of nursing.I use my communications skills in all areas of school, in class, labs and in clinical. My communication skills have definitely been improving since I started but there in a lot of room for more improvement.I have used all of the competencies under W during my clinical experiences in school. Professionalism is another important part of my job as a nursing student and later as a nurse. It helps maintain order in the workplace.X-1-5, X-3-5 and X-4 of the Nursing Practice and leadership competency, I have been able to demonstrate in my clinicals. I know my own strengths and weaknesses and I know the channels of communication. I use critical thinking in everything I do in school, when it comes to assignments, labs , tests and clinical.
