About the Showhouse: Designed by Harrison Design and built by Sheehan Built Homes, the house evokes a stately English country home, situated on a private two-acre lot carved out of the wooded North Atlanta hills. The 5-bedroom, 8,800-square-foot structure integrates ordered classical design with a more modern, casual space. With the modern family in mind, the expansive residence features a classic formal symmetry in its floorplan, breaking into a more relaxed and open living space towards the home’s rear—a perfect marriage of classical design and modern practicality. The sweeping curved stair lit from the oculus above. A center gallery serves as the circulation spine of the home, bounded on either end by daylight-flooded staircases for family use. In keeping with the grand scale of the home, 12-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows on the main level allow daylight to penetrate deep within the home, creating a light-filled interior. A wall of sliding glass doors connects the keeping room with a large covered porch. A continuous vaulted ceiling further blurs the transition from the entry foyer; the intimately scaled space and leads the visitor into a dramatic rotunda, creating a seamless entertaining space that overlooks the expansive property.
