Make FLOWERS from an egg box
You will need:
· An empty egg carton
· Paper or card
· Scissors
· A glue stick or tape
· Paints, colouring pencils or markers
How to make the flowers:
· Pick some wild flowers from the garden or when out walking, ask an adult for permission.
· Carefully cut similar shaped flowers from an empty egg box. Ask an adult to help.
next:
· Paint the flowers. Wait for the paint to dry and then create a design with markers or pens.
· Use one or more cardboard cut-outs for the flower design.
· Make a hole in centre of the flower with a pencil and stick the cut-outs together with glue or tape.
Next:
· Make a thin stem by rolling card or paper and inserting it into the hole in the middle of the flower. Ask an adult to help if necessary.
· Read the poem by Seamus Heaney:
In Memoriam Francis Ledwidge (from Field Work, 1979):
‘Among the dolorous and lovely:
The May Altar of wild flowers…’
