I chose to research this course as it intrigued me, but after researching it more I found that it wasn’t really what I was looking for and going into a proper university course was what I wanted to do.

Employment (Choose preferred employment show evidence and the requirements for the job.)If I were to choose not to go into higher education, but instead go straight into employment, I would most likely get a part time job in my local town, or get a job at my local cinema (ODEON Bridgend) getting a job here would let me keep a regular continued interest in movies. While doing part time work in one of these places I’d do freelance design work designing banners and logos for websites/companies through sites like 99design. There aren’t any requirements for any of these jobs; freelance work just requires a lot of work and determination. While doing freelance work is slow it would allow me to build up an impressive portfolio, which I could then use to get employment at a proper design company, which would be considerably more pay and could then lead to more career opportunities.

If you were to take a gap year, what would you do?If I were to take a gap year, I would most definitely go on a long tour around another continent like America, Asia or Africa. The cost would be high, but the influences and new cultures I would get to see would extremely valuable experiences and would no doubt influence my work in the future as a designer.http://www.imagineasia.co.uk/vietnam/vietnam-holiday-ideas/vietnam-itineraries/grand-journey-through-indochina/This trip for example would be a perfect example of what I would do if I decided to take a gap year, even though it is expensive, it would definitely be an invaluable experience.

From your chosen progression pathways, explain which one appeals to you most and why?Going into higher education/university is the most appealing option for me, my dream is to become a game art designer for a prestigious games company like “Blizzard Entertainment” or “Rockstar”, and to be able to get a job at one of these companies I require a degree in the subject, and so studying a course in game design would give me all the things I need to jump into the job industry I want to be in, the course I’m really interested in and hoping to do is Game Art in the University of South Wales.Going straight into employment instead of higher education really doesn’t appeal to be at all, its probably the last thing I’d think of doing, taking this route would not take me on the path that I want to be on and would be counter productive to my dreams.Taking a gap year appeals to me a huge amount, I’d love to take a year off from education and go travelling and seeing different cultures, but the cost to do so is way to high and such an endeavour is something I would want to undertake after I had finished higher education and had a job which could pay for such trips.
