Task 1
Hi Year 5! This week we are going to be Geographers!
A geographer is an expert in the study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity and how it is affected as well as what it affects.
Do you remember our last Geography unit? We studied locations in our world including learning what continents, countries, counties and cities are. Task 2
This task should be completed in the lined exercise book.
Look at some of the Geography vocabulary from our last unit.
Atlas- a book of maps or charts
Locational knowledge- understanding of an area that is being studied
Counties- a territorial division of some countries (including the UK)
Countries- a nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory.
Continents- any of the world's main continuous expanses of land (Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, Australia, Antarctica).
Hemisphere- a half of the earth, usually as divided into northern and southern halves by the equator, or into western and eastern halves by an imaginary line passing through the poles.
Human features-the branch of geography dealing with how human activity affects or is influenced by the earth's surface.
Physical features- the branch of geography dealing with natural features.
Fieldwork- practical work conducted by a researcher in the natural environment, rather than in a laboratory or office.
Re-familiarise yourself with these words and what they mean. Pay special attention to the definition I’ve highlighted. We will be exploring this more this week! You could practice writing these (blue) words on paper or you could create a crossword/wordsearch or even play hangman with these words.

This task should be completed in the plain exercise book.
The task should take around 30-45 minutes.
