GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ICBEN 2021 PAPERSUse this document as a template and style guide when writing your paper. Please note that your paper should rather be a contribution to the scientific literature, and not a list of topics to be covered during your oral presentation or on your poster. Wherever possible, use the styles that have been defined here. Please do not change the congress logo on top of this page. It is an EPS graphic and may not display correctly within MS Word, but will so when we convert this document to a pdf file.

The 13th ICBEN Congress on Noise as a Public Health Problem, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, 14-17 June 2021

Only manuscripts written in English (American or British usage but not a mixture of the two) will be accepted for inclusion in the ICBEN 2021 proceedings. The number of pages shall not exceed 12 (including references and appendix). The Arial font face should be used throughout the paper. Sans-serif fonts such as Helvetica may be substituted for Arial if necessary. The paper title should use the Arial 14 pt bold font and shall not exceed two lines. Except for proper nouns or abbreviations (e.g. "ICBEN"), only the first word of the title is capitalized. Center the title as shown above. Authors and their affiliations should be listed as above. The corresponding author's email address should be included also. Please only list one e-mail address.

All papers must contain an abstract of max. 180 words. A concise and factual abstract is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research or project, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separately from the paper, so it must be able to stand alone. For this reason, references should be avoided, but if essential, then cite the author(s) and year(s). Your abstract will be published in the online program of the congress.

Acknowledgements should be placed after the main text before the references section.

Appendixes, if needed, may be added to the paper after the main text and the references.

1st level headings are all caps (uppercase) and should use the "Header1" style. 2nd level headings should use the "Header2" style. Please do not include more than two hierarchical levels of headings in the paper. Rather use bold or italic to sub-structure the text of the paper if necessary. The main text should use the "RunningText" style. The main text must either be justified or left-aligned. Hyphenation is optional.

Tables and FiguresIncorporate all graphics, charts, tables, illustrations, photos, etc. directly into your manuscript shortly after their first mention in the text. Below is a suggestion how tables should be formatted. Table legend should be Arial 11 pt, centered. Use the "TableLegend" style to format your table legends.

Do not use high-resolution bitmap images (e.g. hi-res digital photographs), since that is likely to increase the size of your final PDF file.
