A Message from the Principal Team

Dear Families,

Last week was certainly full of fun ... and lots... and lots and ... lots of

walking.

Walkathon: Our Walkathon day was perfect and the students were

excited and ready to go. Funny dress ups were worn by many, and

together we all enjoyed lapping the school. A huge thank to the

PAFA for organising the event, with special thanks to Liz Clarke,

Danielle Miggiani and Danielle Luciani for their assistance on the day.

Students enjoyed a bottle of cool water and a zooper dooper on

completion. Students are now asked to collect their pledge money

and return it to school within the coming week.

Walk to School Day: The walking continued on Friday. Well done to all students who managed to walk all, or part,

of the way to school. Our relocated Kiss and Drop at the CFA station was a huge success. Thank you to the parents

that I asked to turn their cars around and drive through the Kiss an Drop Area - we were just wanting to make sure all

students were perfectly safe. Unfortunately, our Walk to School Day stickers did not arrive in time – as soon as they

arrive, we will hand them out.

Meeting regarding our State Government Grant: On Monday, I attended a meeting in Seymour related to the

process for our master-planning and building grant. The timeline includes an Asset Management Phase (AMP),

selection of an architect, development of a five-year plan, development of designs, tendering for building works and

then, finally, the commencement of building/s from September 2018. The initial asset planning phase needs to be

completed before the end of this term.

The Asset Management Phase looks at our current state - hard facts about our school, including enrolments, Student

Family Occupations, any historic perspective, over entitlement of buildings and what our student data says.

It also includes a section of where we would like to see our teaching and learning practice (staff will be involved in this

discussion) heading into the future.

This will provide the architect with a big picture idea of where we are currently and our future aspirations for how we

teach our students. I will be using our SAMS plan (school maps) and our 2017-2020 Strategic Plan to help determine

this Asset Management Phase as these documents already have most of the information we need in them.

A number of architectural firms that plan to tender for the project have visited the school this week to get an

understanding of the site and the possible works to come. Exciting times ahead!!! Once an architect has been

appointed, an information evening will be held to explain how the community is consulted and when this will occur.

Mr Potesta’s Farewell: All families are invited to Friday’s assembly were– at which we will officially farewell Mr

Potesta. Assembly will start at 2:45 p.m.

First aid course: Next week on Tuesday after school, several our staff will complete their level two first aid course.

It is vital that we have trained staff in each teaching and learning unit, so as to provide assistance on camps and

excursions, and then additional staff trained across the leadership and administration team.

completed a full day’s training to prepare them for their role as peer

mediators. Every school day there will be two mediators on yard duty.

The role of a peer mediator is to assist students with smaller concerns

whilst at the same time building their own leadership skills. Today we

introduce you to Cody, Findlay, Lucas, Liam, Eli, Nola , Trinity, Ellie, Ruby

and Maddison. Look out for them in their bright yellow vests.

Have a great week. Rhonda Cole
