Manatee Sanctuary Park in Cape Canaveral. This venue provides the perfect location for a relaxing stroll through the park and along the river, while enjoying great art, music and food.

In addition to our Juried Artists, our show also features a two-day Student Art Show, “Hands-On Art for Children”, Musical Performances as well as a culinary food experience prepared by local “Foodies”.

Meet the Judges Meet the Poster Artist

Dick Bjornseth

Gena Brodie Robbins Born and raised in Georgia, Gena Brodie Robbins attended the University of Southern Maine and graduated in 1995 with a BFA in Art Education from Valdosta State University, GA. Brodie was awarded the Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2005. She continued her studies around the U.S. and abroad, eventually joining the foundations department at Savannah College of Art and Design teaching drawing and design courses

Dick Bjornseth Dick Bjornseth, an award-winning artist and photographer, is a Professor with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) at their Savannah, Georgia, campus. He teaches drawing, creativity, and color theory classes. Born in Chicago, Bjornseth graduated from Iowa State University and then earned an MFA in Studio Arts from Florida State University. His work has been featured in 14 solo and over 40 other exhibitions around the country.

The Space Coast Art Festival uses both Jurors and Judges. All artistic entrants in our annual show submit four images of their work plus one of their booth. In August of each year, the Jurors come together to view the work of all entrants to determine if the entries are original works of fine art and that they fit in with the quality of our show. The Jurors vote in private and then the scores are tabulated. Not every entrant makes the cut and those that do are truly outstanding.

Our Show Judges have a MFA (Master of Fine Arts) plus an incredible amount of life experience, have received numerous awards for their work, and have experience in judging art shows. We look for Judges who are knowledgeable in many different art disciplines and can give our artists a positive experience. Art shows that are both juried and judged are fairly rare.

LK Phipps has always had a fascination and love for photography. Her formal training began with film in the darkroom and then progressed to digital imagery. Much of her digital work is influenced by the psychedelic pop culture images of her childhood using richly saturated colors with emphasis on luminosity. Her images begin with a photograph she has taken in the RAW format and then she begins producing multiple layers to create a unique artwork image. Look for more of LK’s beautiful work at this year’s Space Coast Art Festival in booth 727 and on-line at LKPhipps.com. Posters of LK’s winning cover design will be for sale at the T-shirt booth near the entrance to the show; she will be signing those posters at her #727 space.

All work must be unpublished, signed, original art created by a Brevard K-12 Public, Private, or Home School student artist. Contact SCAF to learn more about how your school or classroom can participate!

This two-day event, held yearly in conjunction with the Space Coast Art Festival, features students from Kindergarten thru College competing for awards. This opportunity provides a stepping stone to a creative future for these aspiring artists as they display their paintings, drawings and sculptures to their family, friends and the public.

The Saturday Show will feature students from kindergarten thru 8th grade, while Sunday’s show will feature Students from 9th grade thru College Level. Please join the students at 2:30 each day for an award ceremony.

About The FestivalSpace Coast Art Festival (SCAF), is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by an all volunteer Board of Directors. In 1963, a small group of artists and local community leaders formed the first “Cocoa Beach Sidewalk Art Show”. In 1972 the organization incorporated to become the Space Coast Art Festival and the event date of Thanksgiving weekend was established. In 2014, after 50 years of outstanding festivals, the festival site moved to Port Canaveral, FL due to the size of the show and space constrictions. In 2017, the SCAF relocated to the beautiful Manatee Sanctuary Park on the riverfront in the City of Cape Canaveral.

The 53-year success of the Space Coast Art Festival is due to the continued support of Volunteers. History of Festival PostersOne element added to the Festival in its 54-year history was a Festival Poster Contest. The contest was originally open only to Brevard County residents, later it was opened to all Florida artists. Throughout the years the selected Festival Poster artwork was used on the Show T-shirt and the Show Program as well as on the Show Poster. These Posters have become collector’s items among Space Coast Art Festival patrons.
