Walk the Walk:Following Christ as His Disciple

Being a disciple of Jesus has always been synonymous with being a Christian. From the Scriptures and from his own experience, biblical scholar Dr. Timothy Gray explains how Christian discipleship calls us to follow in the footsteps of Christ as engaged participants in God's plan, ordering our lives to bear witness to the Lord in our families, workplaces, communities, and to the world.

I'm Not Being FedJeff Cavins explores and responds to some of the reasons why so many people have left the Catholic Church for evangelical Christianity. As he presents the story of his return to Catholicism, Cavins also builds a case for why the Catholic Church is the Church founded by Christ.

Why a Protestant Pastor Became Catholic

Dr. Scott Hahn explains through his legendary testimony how he was militantly anti-Catholic but self-driven to seek the truth. This ultimately led him into the Catholic Church. He soon became an ardent defender of the Faith and one of its most passionate promoters.

From Atheism to Catholicism: My Conversion Diary

Jennifer Fulwiler is a popular writer and speaker from Austin, Texas. In this compelling presentation, she recalls her spiritual journey —one which ultimately led her to enter the Catholic Church after having lived a life of atheism. Jennifer is a regular contributor to the National Catholic Register and frequently appears on Catholic radio and EWTN. Her highly anticipated book, Something Other Than God, is now available in an audio book format <http://www.lighthousecatholicmedia.org/store/title/something-other-than-god-audio-book-8-cd-set> through Lighthouse Catholic Media.

Help urgently neededArchbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, President of the USCCB, is asking that a special collection be taken up "to provide humanitarian relief and pastoral support for our affected brothers and sisters in the Middle East." Funds from this collection "will be used by Catholic Relief Services and other Catholic agencies working in partnership with the local Church to meet the most urgent humanitarian needs facing the people in Iraq, Gaza, Syria and surrounding countries where refugees have fled." Collected funds will also be used "to support Church programs to aid persecuted Christians and to respond to rebuilding needs of Catholic dioceses in the impacted areas.

Monday Night Bible StudyWe will start, Monday, September 22nd at 7:00 pm at Bozeman Catholic Community Center. This year we will begin our session with “”A Biblical Walk Through The Mass”. Holy Rosary Parish Stewardship News

A Stewardship Prayer

The month of September has traditionally been set aside to honor Mary as Our Lady of Sorrows, whose feast is September 15. All the sorrows of Our Blessed Mother are joined together with the passion and death of her son, Jesus Christ. And so we pray:

Oh my Jesus, In your passion

came true the prophecy of Simeon, that your mother would be pierced

by a sword of immeasurable anguish and sorrow.

Grant that as we who commemorate the memory of her grief,

imitate her stewardship example and participate in a profound way

in your redemptive work. Help us to embrace the journey

of your passion, so that like Our Blessed Mother, your first and greatest disciple,

we too may be brought from death to life

by your cross and resurrection. We pray this to you, Christ, our Lord,

Amen.

Be A Good Steward Of Your Faith This Autumn

There’s something wonderfully renewing about autumn, especially as it begins a new school year. It’s all about new beginnings. Maybe it has something to do with new classrooms, new teachers, the great smell of brand new shoes and the smooth touch of that new backpack. We remember those feelings of starting again even if it’s been years since we walked through the school house door, and even if we don’t have our own children heading off to the classroom this fall. We still get that heady feeling of new possibilities in the crisp autumn air. This is the perfect time to bring a sense of spiritual renewal to your life and to your family – the domestic church. Autumn can truly bring out a new resolve to improve our lives as summer’s freedom gives way

to the structure of fall. For adults, faith formation classes and prayer groups are just forming in parishes. Check out the opportunities. With sum- mer ending, many organizations are gearing up for new volunteers. Contact your local Catholic Charities or Habitat for Humanity to see how you might help out. Think of the autumn season as a way to discover a new rhythm for your prayer life. If new activities can be scheduled into your daily life, start scheduling in more quality time for prayer. Fall is the perfect time to begin a 34 week Ignatian retreat, because if you start in September, the retreat-in-real-life schedule will conform to the liturgical year. For the children in your house, early to bed and early to rise means there may be more opportunities to be together for short prayer. Say a blessing at breakfast, or a brief morning offering as kids head out for the bus. Try to bring a more regular prayer schedule to your home. Pray with your children as you tuck them in, mak- ing the prayer personal and about the day’s events. Make a resolve this fall to bring Christ more prominently into your family’s daily routine. Make the stewardship of your faith and family a commitment as autumn brings a sense of renewal.

September is Stewardship Month! “A Christian steward is one who receives God’s gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others and returns them with increase to the Lord.” Throughout the month of September you will be reminded to pray about and put into action the use of your time, talent and treasure; for the building up of God’s kingdom. There will be sign-up sheets at each of the entrances to the church for the purpose of volunteering your time and talents. This can be directly related to the workings of the church (liturgical ministries and faith formation assistance...) as well as to helping the needy of our greater community (Family Promise, Love INC., Community Café...)

A Prayer for our SeminariansO Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that You call many worthy souls to Your holy priesthood. Enlighten the Bishop in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Director in molding them, and the professors in instructing them. Lead the seminarians daily in Your unerring footsteps; so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom and heroes of sacrifice; steeped in humility and aflame with love for God and man; apostles of Your glory and sanctifiers of souls. Amen.

BOX TOPS AND LABELS FOR EDUCATION Our newest project is in support of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Livingston. We are asking our parishioners to get involved by saving box tops and labels, then dropping them off in designated collection boxes provided at our church. To save the box tops, simply cut out the pink label from products such as Betty Crocker baking goods, cereals, Ziploc storage bags, Hefty trash bags, Scott & Kleenex paper products, Frozen Foods, snacks, dairy products, etc. We will send the box tops to St. Mary’s Catholic School and they will receive a check to use in support of the school. For more information about participating products, visit the website at: www.boxtops4education.com <http://www.boxtops4education.com/> We also ask you to save your labels from these food brands and drop them off in the designated collection bins. We will provide and send the labels to the school and they will order school supplies from a catalog containing arts, athletics, and academic items. For more information about the program or products, visit their website at: www.labelsforeducation.com <http://www.labelsforeducation.com/>
