Flowing on from these values is a commitment to the development of teams and individuals so not only do we achieve organisational objectives but that we achieve our personal and family aspirations.
Nacap is a group of highly engaged people. This is evidenced by the excellent engagement score we received in the 2014 AON Hewitt Best Employer Survey. We received a score of 74%, which placed us well above the industry average 58% in Australia.
To maximise the competency of our people we have created a series of interactive knowledge transfer modules where leaders of the business share their experiences and knowledge. While the program is aimed at our Engineers we invite all of our people to these sessions. Modules topics include safety management, project management, cost control and reporting, head contracts, subcontracts, quality assurance and quality control, welding fundamentals and hydrostatic testing.
Our managers are practical, clear thinkers with decades of experience on project sites. We have a flat structure and we are relatively informal in our everyday work. This allows us to be highly responsive and flexible throughout our operations. Our flexibility assists us in achieving a high level of teamwork, including cross functional employees who are able to take on different roles and responsibilities.

At Nacap we understand the challenge of mobilising a large multi-skilled workforce, often to remote areas for projects of varying duration and complexity. Specifically, the challenge of building a culture of high expectation and high accountability to create standards of behaviour that are consistent with the Nacap values on projects that rapidly ramp up over long distances. We believe in a positive and proactive approach to the successful delivery of our projects, where safety, quality, environment and productivity are all in balance to achieve the desired result.”

Nacap works to continuously improve quality performance with strategies such as Continuous Improvement, Best Practice, Guidance Notes, Document review programs and Training programs. We believe work crews who take the time to plan their work, assess the risks, and are cognisant of change, are likely to meet or exceed production and quality targets.
Nacap has an annual review process, which flows from the ISO 9001 required Management Review. We address Quality management with project specific audit and inspection programs, in addition to the corporate TQM audit schedule.
Quality FocusWe aim for consistency in how we do our work, to strive for
efficiency and effectiveness.
We are totally and unconditionally committed to Health and Safety as being the “Number One” priority. We have set a “zero” target for accidents and injuries on all Nacap construction projects and have maintained a LTIFR and TRIFR well below industry averages over the past 5+ years. This is clearly evident in our commitment to ongoing innovation in this area. We train our people to identify and speak out when they see unsafe behaviours and to build on best practice to reduce unsafe acts.
This is supported by extensive OHS training and behavioural programmes aimed at enabling our people to act safely and responsibly. Our commitment to health and safety has received awards and recognition.

As a caring business, we aim to lead the industry in environmental management and performance by moving beyond compliance. We efficiently use natural resources, minimise waste, preserve cultural heritage and minimise environmental impact. Nacap educates its people to continually improve knowledge of environmental aspects and best practices
Caring for the EnvironmentWe care about protecting the environment.
Nacap continues to develop the basis of a Behavioural Based Leadership Program aligned with Project culture requirements. The guiding principles of the program are developed against the challenges the industry faces with a largely itinerant workforce exposed to different cultures, expectations and levels of accountability as they move from project to project.
We are proud of our people whose enthusiasm, skills and team spirit are paramount to our success. We are committed to motivating our people by providing excellent training and development opportunities.
Being ProductiveWe work with our people to establish clear expectations, accountabilities and consequence. We believe in
having the right number of people in the right place at the right time to deliver on our commitments.
“Our people are our greatest asset. We focus on developing the career potential and capabilities of our people.”

We take our social responsibility very seriously. Nacap works hard to adhere to project commitments; heritage, the environment, our stakeholders and local communities. This is a two-fold approach whereby potential adverse impacts are identified, assigned a risk rating and those risk and potential outcomes are mitigated.
Social growth and improvement opportunities are identified, strategies to capitalise on these are devised and implemented.
The involvement of traditional owners and the management of indigenous cultural heritage sites is an integral part of our construction process. Daily liaison with landowners and community via proponents promote open communication of construction impacts and community expectations throughout the duration of projects.
Social Responsibility with StakeholdersNacap is committed to ensuring the social impact of its activities resulting from construction is positive
overall.
In the past we have participated through sessions, fundraising nights, attending local events as well as a range of other activities.
Each project identifies where they can best provide support in the community after engaging that community. We are honoured to have been involved in numerous events that have raised amounts to support local communities and needs.
Examples of organisations we have assisted in this way includes but is not limited to The Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Quilpie Kindergarten, the Tara Primary School, Meals on Wheels in Roma, Wandoan Wildcats and Dulacca State School.
In line with our commitment to Social Responsibility, Nacap has a proud history of
engaging with local business, schools, and community support organisations.

The ability of this team to integrate into our client’s organisations and understand key project drivers is integral in Nacap delivering real value in the management of projects.
Nacap has a proven history of successfully delivering construction projects using a collaborative style commercial structure which often convert to traditional fixed price lump sum contracts. We now find a large portion of our work is based on “relationship” contracting commercial structures whereby we work in an integrated team with our clients to deliver the range of project objectives.
Key to the success of an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) period is the alignment of goals and objectives and the ability of the participants to deliver and perform to these objectives.
Sometimes these projects are negotiated on an exclusive basis with an open book pricing and transparent risk allocation, or alternatively we compete with other contractors whereby we are able to demonstrate the alignment of culture, capacity and capability of Nacap. Repeat business is the performance measure and we enjoy ongoing relationships with our clients across our business operations. C
