Nacap has an impeccable safety record based on a strong safety culture reinforced by our safety policies and non-negotiables, behavioural based leadership program, highly tailored safety procedures and award winning safety innovations.

At Nacap we know that every project, environment and community in which we work is unique and safety must be designed in accordance with the nuances and fit for that particular location. Effective and consistent communication supported by strong visual aids and video demonstrations is critical for safety engagement by local workforces.

Our safety team ensures this is achieved through the establishment and implementation of project specific Contractor Health & Safety Management Plans (CHSMP), detailing the training, communication and reporting requirements of safety managers and ambassadors.

Throughout our projects from initial inductions and meetings through to project conclusion we constantly consult with workers, subcontractors, vendors and clients to ensure all stakeholders understand and commit to the same health and safety goals and initiatives.

At Nacap, safety is non negotiable

A Strong Safety Culture

The "blank page" approach

Nacap's highly successful “live” and dynamic safety culture is based on our comprehensive and ongoing safety training, safety "non-negotiables" and Safe Work Methods (SWMs), initially developed using a unique “blank page” approach.

The "blank page" approach ensures that SWMs are tailored specifically to every crew on every site at any particular time.

Over the course of a project, hundreds of SWMs can be developed, assessed and reviewed to ensure safety is practical and relevant for our people all of the time.

Behavioural Based Leadership (BBL)

Our Behavioural Based Leadership (BBL) Program

Our Behavioural Based Leadership Program focuses on consistent genuine methods of communication and consultation relevant to the project, personnel and task at hand.

Nacap has developed a Behavioural Based Leadership Program that focuses on the key four considersations for the successful delivery of projects - safety, environment, quality and productivity.

The BBL program aims at:

• building leadership capability

• a risk assessed approach to targeted leadership training

• upskilling and facilitating coaching and audit capabilities and

• visible leadership.

The BBL program is based on a foundation of:

• Nacap's expectations; the behaviour we expect from our workers

• management commitment made at the highest level of the organisation to enable personnel to deliver on the expectations

• Nacap's values - Teamwork, Integrity and Strive to be Better and

• Nacap's Safety Non-Negotiables.

Based on the understanding that “behaviour influences attitude and attitude influences behaviour” the goal is to consistently achieve gains for an incident free workplace and continuous safety culture growth.

YARRAVILLE JET FUEL PROJECTMobil Oil Australia2018

SCOPE • 3KM X DN350 pipeline

• Brownfields, complex due to underground assets

• Mini HDDs, road crossings

In 2018, Nacap constructed a 3km pipeline to connect Mobil Oil Australia Pty Ltd

Yarraville Terminal to the Somerton Jet Fuel Pipeline. The project will help Mobil

to meet the increasing demand for jet fuel at Melbourne Airport. The terminal

is Mobil’s primary distribution terminal for petrol and diesel fuel and receives

locally refined fuels via direct pipeline from the Altona and Geelong refineries and

Holden Dock. The works were particularly complex due to multiple underground

assets and construction occurring in inner urban and industrial locations.

LONGFORD TO LONG ISLAND POINT PROJECT Esso Australia, Victoria2016 - 2017

SCOPE • 186KM X DN350 high pressure steel gas pipeline

• 14 major HDDs, 14 mini HDDs

• 1200 fence crossings

• 117 open cut road crossings

• 90 special crossings

In 2016, Nacap commenced work on a 186 kilometre pipeline in regional Victoria

for Esso. The pipeline replaced an existing pipeline, which is one of Australia’s

most vital pieces of infrastructure, supplying most of Victoria’s gas requirements

and around 20 per cent of Australia’s crude oil requirements. Nacap successfully

completed the project in two seasons, with a work crew at peak of 450.
