We are going to create our own jungle in our classrooms and think about the different ways that animals interact and move through the jungle. The adult is going to call out different animal habitats and you have to think about what animals you would find there. Here are some suggestions: ● Jungle ● Ocean ● Desert ● Forest ● Antarctica ● Farm

Be as creative as you can! Have fun being animals!

Nutbrown Hare to the moon and back. Today we would like to know who you love to the moon and back. Your sentence can begin with, I love ______ to the moon and back. To make this activity more challenging you can make the sentence a bit more difficult. For example, I love_____ to the moon and back because _____. Including the because allows your child/ children to think about why they have chosen this person to write about. Once your child has completed this activity, they can draw a picture to match their sentence and colour it in.

The purpose of this game is to ask the children to act out right and wrong hygiene practices. This game makes learning about hygiene fun and engaging. Here are some examples: Showing bad hygiene practices: ● Pretending to lick

their hands. ● Not washing hands

before eating. ● Sneezing into their

hands and not washing them after.

● Coughing into their hands and not washing them after.

Showing good hygiene practices: ● Sneezing into their

elbow.

The adult needs to call out numbers and the children must show that number on their fingers. When you have finished the warmup activity, they need to shake their fingers out, so they are ready to do their number formation lesson. Today we are going to use the worksheet and add together the houses. Remind your child/ children about our addition rules: You must count one side first and then the other side. When you have done that, use your fingers or objects to help you count all of them together!

Literacy: Letter Formation This morning we will be recapping the letter r. To do our best writing, we need to warm up our fingers so they are ready to write! For our warm up activity this morning, we are going to do crocodile snaps. Begin by raising your arms in the air with one above the other.

Then snap your hands together like a crocodile snapping its jaw.

Take turns having the left and right arm above each other for this activity.

Page 3: We are going to...We are going to create our own jungle in our classrooms and think about the different ways that animals interact and move through the jungle. The adult is going to

Physical Development: Games Banana! Banana is a great game as you must use only your listening skills to play! How to play banana: The game starts with the adult picking one child to start the game. The child has to face away from the group and close their eyes. The adult will point at one child in the group to say the word “banana”. But they have to say it in a funny voice, so the child guessing does not recognise them.

Mathematics: Number Focus Family counting Our Art theme this week is families. Today we are going to count how many people are in our family and find out the total amount of people altogether. We are going to be using our template house to represent our house and counters to represent the people in our house.

● Washing hands and then sitting down to eat.

● Cleaning toys after they have been used.

Physical Development: Gym with Coach Marc!

Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Hygiene Super soap’s hand washing song! Today we are going to learn a new song about keeping clean with soap to get rid of germs!

Expressive Arts and Design: Stick family This Morning let us take the time to talk about our family. Questions to ask your child: • Who is a part of

your family? • How many people

live in your house?

• Does your family have any pets?

• What makes your family special?

• What do you love about your family?

Start with your elbows bent and your hands in a fist in front of each shoulder.

Then straighten your elbows, moving one arm out from the body and the other arm to the side of your body. Alternate arms back and forth.

Do you feel ready to write now?

Who can remember the rhyme we learnt yesterday for the sound r?

Here is the rhyme for r:

Down the robot’s back then curl over his arm.

Literacy: News Guess how much I love you This afternoon starts with a story! Our Art theme of the week is based on families. First, turn on your listening ears and turn them up so that you can hear the story loud and clear. Adults, let the children know that they need to listen very carefully as you will be asking them questions at the end. Adults, click on the link at the top of the page to listen to your

Talk to your child/ children and ask them to talk about who they live with. Begin the activity by giving one house per child. The counters are to be placed in the middle of the table for easy access for the children. Ask your child/ children to take one counter for one person. Next, ask your child/ children one at a time to count how many people are on their house template. When your child has given you their number write it on the board or on a piece of paper. Finally, encourage your child/ children to add up all of the numbers, showing them the total number of people in their family.

The song is to the theme of twinkle twinkle little star. Super Soap takes us through what happens when we wash our hands. This song is great for the children to sing whilst they wash their hands at school and at home. We now know a lot of different things about having good hygiene. Now you have finished Super Soap’s song talk in your groups about the different activities that have helped us ensure we have good hygiene.

Now, let us get started with the next part of our activity. We are going to make out family out of lolly sticks. You will need: • A4 white paper • Lolly sticks • Markers • Glue You will need to get one lolly stick for each person in your family don’t forget to include yourself. Once you have collected the sticks, you are able to start decorating them to represent each member of your family. Once finished, you should stick them onto a A4 white piece of paper.

Thinking back to yesterday’s lesson, can we remember any of the words that start with r?

● rat ● rabbit ● ruby ● radish ● rectangle ● red ● raspberry

We are now going to practice our letter formation of r on our paper.

Make sure you are sitting all the way back on your chair

focus activity book, ‘Guess how much I love you.’ Questions to ask your child: • Who are the

characters in the story?

• How do you show someone that you love them?

• Do you think that the hares love each other? Why?

• How did the story end?

Now you have completed the story and the questions, it is time for your writing activity. In the story we saw little Nutbrown Hare showing Big Nutbrown Hare how much he loved him. He expressed this in many ways. I would

Have fun!

Understanding the World Ourselves This morning we are going to be learning more about ourselves. First, let us watch this short video to remember what makes us all unique. Now we have watched the video, let us take some time to talk about each other. Questions to ask your child: • Who is in your

family?

Literacy: Phonics We are going to begin our phonics lesson this afternoon by warming up our fingers, so we are ready to write. Today we are going to do piano fingers! First drum your fingers on the table as if playing the piano. Make sure each finger touches the table. You can also work on fast and slow movements with this. Questions to ask your child: • How slowly can you

play the piano? • How fast can you

play the piano? • Can you use both

hands together to play the piano?

Before drawing the background onto the white paper, you may want to draw a house, park or garden. Have a great time creating your family.

Literacy: Phonics Today we will be recapping the sounds x and y.

Questions to ask your child:

• Can you remember any of the words we spoke about yesterday?

with your feet on the floor, policeman hand (non writing hand) on the table for support and holding your pencil correctly.

Use the rhyme to guide you if you get stuck!

After you have finished writing the letter r, draw a picture at the bottom of your page.

Remember to use the correct colours!

Mathematics: Project (Weight and Length) This morning we will be completing our final Maths Project activity about weight.

Page 6: We are going to...We are going to create our own jungle in our classrooms and think about the different ways that animals interact and move through the jungle. The adult is going to

like you to remember one of the ways he showed this and write it down. Sentence suggestions: Was it I love you as high as I can reach? I love you all the way up to my toes? I love you as high as I can hop? I love you all the way down the lane as far as the river? Pick your sentence and write it down on this worksheet. Once you have completed your sentence, draw a picture to match. Remember to think about the colours you use to colour in your characters.

• Who are your friends?

• What do you like to do?

• What is your favourite food?

Sentences for them to complete: • I sometimes need

help with...?

• ......makes me happy?

• Sometimes ……. make me feel sad?

Once each question has been discussed, you can move onto our main activity. Ask your child/ children to fill in the boxes on the sheet. Encourage them to start by drawing a picture in each of the squares.

When you are finished, ensure your child’s chair is pushed in, both feet are flat on the ground and their policeman hand (non writing hand) is on the table. Now we have warmed up our fingers, it is time to learn our new sound. Today we are going to focus on x and y. Can you remember the sound x makes? Here is the jolly phonics for x. /ks/- /ks/! Take an x- ray. /ks/- /ks/! Take an x -ray. /ks/- /ks/! Take an x - ray. -x ray of my hand! Action: Pretend to take an X-ray with an x-ray

• Can we think of different words that start with each of these sounds?

Here are the letter formation rhymes to help forming x:

Down the arm and leg and repeat on the other side.

Here is the letter formation to help with forming the letter y:

Down a horn, up a horn and under his head.

We can now identify heavy and light objects. We also know how to estimate. Questions to ask your child: What is estimating? Estimating means to find something close to an answer (guess) without measuring. Today we are going to be predicting. Questions to ask your child: What does predicting mean? Prediction means to guess what we think might happen. This is very similar as estimating. The worksheet is to predict how many

Once we have a list of different words again that start with each of these sounds, can we pick two NEW words for each sound and practice our writing.

When you have completed your writing, let us now draw one picture for each sound, representing one of the words you have just written.

Remember to use the correct colours.

cubes the object will weigh. This means we need to use the weighing scales and make each side the same. We need to make the weighing scale BALANCED. (We learned about balanced scales in week 14) For this activity you will need:

● ruler ● scissors ● glue ● shoe ● rock

First, we are going to predict how many cubes we think each object will weigh. Then we are going to put our predictions

their family and if they know who the oldest person is in their family. Questions to ask your child: • How is age

measured? • How often does

our age change? • How old do you

think they are? • Why do they

think they are this old?

The activity today is an ordering activity. The children must cut out each one and put them in order, starting with the youngest. Remember we must never walk around with the scissors in our hand!

•Tree template •Leaf template •Writing pencils Firstly, we need to think about who is in our family. Questions to ask your child: • Who is in your

family? • Who do you live

with? • Do you have a

brother or sister? • What are the

names of your siblings?

What you will need to do: 1. First, ask your

child/ children to write one name per leaf template for each person in their family, not forgetting to include one for themselves.

Action: pretend to eat yogurt with a spoon. Saying y,y,y. Ask your child/ children to write this sound on the board/ a piece of paper.

Now can you think of words that start with y?

Words that start with y:

Expressive Arts and Design: This afternoon let’s let our family know how much we love them by making a banner. Begin this activity by talking to your child or children about their family. Guide them to think about what their family looks like. Questions to ask your child: • What colour hair

do your parents have? Is it long or short?

• Can you remember what colour their eyes are?

2. Then, each leaf can be coloured in, before being cut out, in preparation to stick onto your tree template.

3. Now, colour in the tree template, thinking about the colour of trees you see in the community.

4. You are now ready to stick each leaf representing a family member onto the tree template.

You have completed a family tree! You can stick it up on the wall, window or fridge at home.

Remember to use the correct colours!

Ask your child/ children to say the rhyme with you.

Ask your child/ children to come to the board and write their r on the board whilst saying the rhyme. If you are at home, let them practice this letter on the ground in chalk or on a large piece of paper.

Give each child a chance to do this.

Can we think of any objects that start with r?

This morning we are going to be creating a self-portrait. Begin the lesson by watching this short video about how self-portraits are created. It is now time to begin drawing your own self portrait. What you will need for this activity: ● A4 white paper ● Pencils ● Mirrors ● Coloured pencils

1. First use the

mirror to have a look at yourself, what can you see?

2. Use the pencils to draw what you can see in the mirror.

3. Begin with the outline of your face and then add

• What do they like to wear?

Today’s activity begins by making a hand print, we will then complete some writing. What you will need for this activity: • A4 paper • Coloured paper • Pencils • Paint • Glue 1. To start with, ask

your child/ children to choose a colour of paint. Then you will need to paint your hand and print it onto the white paper. This needs to be done twice.

Mathematics: Number Formation Number line We are going to be creating our own number line from 0-20 today. First, let us sing a song to help us remember our numbers from 0-20.

Words that start with r:

● rat ● rabbit ● ruby ● radish ● rectangle ● red ● raspberry

Ask the children if they know any other words that start with r.

Now we are going to start practicing our own r.

Before we start writing, ensure that your child/ children are sitting with their chairs pushed in and feet flat on the floor with their supporting, policeman hand (non writing hand) on the table.

Mathematics: Project (Weight and Length) This afternoon we are going to continue our Maths Project on Weight. Today we are going to be identifying the lightest object.

Leaves of emotion Today we are going to discuss how we feel about going into Reception in September. This will be our last Friday together in Transition and next term you will all be in Prep I or at a new school. The leaves of emotions will allow your child/ children to write down things that they are excited about and also things that make them feel nervous. Allow your child/ children to talk freely and help them to write down a sentence about the first emotion that they feel. The reason we are using leaves to write

drum. Boom boom, we can count to twenty, Boom boom, we can count to twenty, Singing our numbers is fun to do, Boom boom, we can count to twenty. Now our brains are all warmed up, it is time to start our activity. The worksheet below has a number line with only 0 and 20 on it. The activity is to write the missing numbers in the boxes. If you get stuck, think about the song we sang together. As we are focusing on our number formation in this lesson, please ensure the formation of numbers are formed correctly.

We have been focusing on heavy and light. But can you remember how we know which object is the lightest on a weighing scale? We know an object is light on a weight scale when it is higher than the other side. When an object is heavier, it pulls the side of the scale down. Adults you can demonstrate this again with weighing scales. To make this more apparent you can use something very heavy and something very light. When you have completed this, you can encourage your child to start the worksheet provided.

on is because we are all part of The Mulberry House School, which is like a big tree. We are all an individual leaf on this tree. We are all unique and special in our own way. Some may be going to Prep I and some are going to a new school but we all grew together on this tree. Here is a leaf template for your writing.

Understanding the World: Matching This afternoon, let us play a game together about the different people we may find in our family or in our friends’ family.

The worksheet today is to identify which side of the scale is the LIGHTEST. The children are to look at each picture and circle the side which is the lightest. Remember! The higher it is the lighter it is!

Physical Development: Games Musical statues! This afternoon’s fun game is musical statues. Ask your child/ children to move around (dancing, hopping, skipping, running) whilst the music is playing and to freeze into a statue when the music stops. Tell them to remain as a statue until the music starts again. Stop and start the music to see who can stand as still as a statue. Look around the room and see if any of the children cannot be as still as a statue.

Page 14: We are going to...We are going to create our own jungle in our classrooms and think about the different ways that animals interact and move through the jungle. The adult is going to

Before playing the game, let us take a few minutes to discuss who we think we may find in or be in the game. Questions to ask your child: • How many people

do you have in your family?

• What are their names?

• What relation are they to you?

They could be your cousin, brother, sister grandparent or your mum and dad. Matching game activity: First cut out each matching card. Turn all the cards face down on the table or floor. Now it’s time to play our game.

If they move, they come to the front with the adult and look out for any children not as still as a statue! Expressive Arts and Design: Music
