Straight from Sheila Meeks’ article in the PGPCNP Association Weekly Email – I would like to share with you a note that our President-Elect, Jim Hammar sent to Booth Riera, who is the Local Chapter Present of the Tallahassee Women’s Council of Realtors. Booth had written to Jim asking him if he would share, with her members and potential new members, why he joined Women’s Council of Realtors, they wanted to do an article for their Monthly Newsletter. Below are Jim’s comments to Booth. “I have been involved with WCR for many years through the Naples chapter. My ex-wife is a former past president and I have long understood the significance and importance of WCR. It is a fabulous networking organization for men and women. I've always believed that REAL MEN are not only not afraid to wear pink, but they are also not afraid to join WCR. Although the educational angle was one of our founding tenets....I believe our networking in my mind is just as important, especially in this market. Think about this scenario....you are searching for a property in the $300K range and there are 20 or 30 listings available to show....12 of them are listed with WCR agents that you have gotten to know through our business meetings, fund raisers, etc......who's listings are you going to show? Easy choice, work with a co-broke agent that you know and trust. Second, for new agents coming into the business....what better way to meet fellow pros in a smaller environment rather than being thrown to the masses at the board. Thirdly, referrals across the country, especially for agents whose company does not have a significant "reach" across the state or country. Fourth, we have a definite lack of direction in the industry to help teach our agents HOW TO RUN THEIR BUSINESS LIKE A BUSINESS...WCR can help teach this through our example as well as experiencing the business world through our affiliates, who are very important and a key to WCR's success. Hope this helps.” Jim also reported, “In January I went through training in California to become a Certified Mentor for Brian Buffini and Company. Buffini is a nationally renowned Sales Trainer. His system is cutting edge and I believe it is the missing piece of the puzzle in Real Estate Training. In a nutshell we advocate that each and every agent is their own Company and they must run this company like a business if they are to succeed. That’s also why I think the WCR Business Partners are so important to our success…we as salespeople can gain valuable “business” experience through our Business Partners.” As you can see, Jim is very passionate in his beliefs about belonging to Women’s Council of Realtors, as are many of us. Good perspective from a man’s point of view. Jim Hammar is the Manager of the Michael Saunders & Company offices located on Boca Grande, downtown Punta Gorda on Taylor Street and on Burnt Store Road in Punta Gorda. Jim is also our President Elect for 2013.
