CNC PROTOTYPE MACHINING

Fast turnaround and high quality models can be achieved with a wide variety of materials including production plastics, metals and other composites. Using these materials during the concept stage and engineering stage of your prototype will allow your design team to closely simulate the final product appearance, visually reflect the rationality of physical dimension and the ease or complexity assembly work, and yet give the freedom to make design changes.

WayKen has a team of expert programmers and engineers that ensure parts are machined with the best possible product results. Backing the team is state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control software and equipment, and turnaround times of 3-9 business days.

WayKen’s low cost CNC prototype machining capabilities enable us to produce the finest, highly accurate visual design models, full-functional engineering prototypes or master patterns.


ACRYLIC MACHINING & PROTOTYPES

Contact us for CNC Machining offering the possibility of using acrylic or polycarbonate. During machining, we take care of your plastic part and have the knowledge of plastics required to machine without blemishes. The final product is clear and free of any marks or scratches.

Optically clear finishes on plastic components can be achieved with the proper polishing methods. WayKen employs skilled craftsman with many years of experience in this highly specialized process. We offer several different types of plastic polishing depending on your needs and the type of plastic you are using to allow function testing.

WayKen have developed a clear machined plastic prototyping service capable of delivering superior surface finishes and optical clarity. Many applications benefit from using clear machined parts to help view the process or improve aesthetics. Including lighting and lamps, lightpipes and displays all require good optical characteristics.


ALUMINUM MACHINING & PROTOTYPES

When the Aluminum prototype has been developed and approved, we can use the knowledge, fixturing and machining strategies used to make the prototype to produce your part at a very reasonable cost. We can usually save you money on complex 3D parts compared to production by other methods like casting or molding. As required, we can also supply secondary and finishing operations like anodizing, heat treating, sand blasting and polishing.

RAPID PROTOTYPING & SLA / SLS

WayKen provides multi-faceted rapid machining services, including stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), and professional prototype model making.


VACUUM CASTING & LOW VOLUME PRODUCTION

With 20 years experience in advanced product development services, WayKen use standardized operational procedures to assure accurate part replication and consistent mechanical properties. Our Casting Technicians control all operational parameters: mixing, de-gassing, stirring, preheating, injection, to the solidification of the urethane and Rubber, so to provide a standard precision of ±0.15mm/100mm, and the highest precision of ±0.05mm.

WayKen is on the leading edge of Vacuum Casting technology, offering a wide variety of materials to facilitate the creation of cast urethane parts or finished products, typically for market testing, clinical trials, pre-production evaluation and low volume production.

The properties of the thermoset urethane are similar to engineering plastics: ABS, PMMA, PC, PP, and others. We offer transparent, translucent, and opaque materials in a variety of different Shore Durometers and Colorations. We also offer High Impact and High Temperature (150 degree) Fire Resistant UL94-V0 rated materials, and Glass Filled Resins.


POLYCARBONATE VAPOR POLISHING

Polycarbonate is readily polished via vapor polishing and is typically the method of choice for most applications. Minor scratches and other small surface irregularities can be removed from PC parts by vapor polishing. The process is performed with a chemical vapor, which attacks the surface of the plastic and smoothes it. When done properly, vapor polishing can provide optical quality finishes.

Methylene chloride vapor is normally used in the process for PC. The vapor is created by heating a container with methylene chloride to the boiling point. utilizes vapor to flow the surface of the component. The parts are exposed to the methylene chloride vapor for less than three seconds. The whole process must be performed in a closed and well ventilated room, that prevents the operator from coming in contact with the fumes. Parts must not come in contact with liquid methylene chloride. After the polishing process, parts must be allowed to dry, in order to evaporate the methylene chloride.


PROTOTYPE FINISHING & PAINTING

WayKen’s finishing solutions, which include hand finishing, master pattern finishing, assembly, polishing, painting, printing and production finishing options, provide our clients with a prototype that emulates their final product or production parts, allowing our clients to place their product directly into their customer’s hands. we are a one-stop-shop.

From de-flashing to pre-fitting, gluing, filling, sanding, modifying, measuring, and assembling, our Hand Craft Specialists focus on every engineering detail and every design detail. At WayKen, we always strive for perfection in every part on every project.

WayKen invested in a clean room paint facility to ensure the absence of contaminants and dust, and also to deal with the extreme humidity conditions. From mobile phones to cars, WayKen Painters can provide any surface treatment on any project in any color, texture, or gloss you require! Products receiving cosmetic paint are coated with a polyurethane paint.

We also offers a selection of Specialty Surface Treatment options from Anodizing, Electroplating and Chemical Plating , Powder Coating, Laser Etching, as well as Silk Screening and Pad Printing.


RAPID INJECTION MOLDING

Many prototyping processes are great for testing form and fit, but often there is simply no substitute for testing with the real injection molded parts and material. WayKen on demand provides low-volume injection molding using rapid tooling.

Rapid tooling can be used if your volume requirements don’t justify the higher cost of steel tooling. It is very cost effective. When your high-volume injection molding steel tooling won’t be ready for months, rapid injection molding using rapid tooling is an excellent way to receive parts quickly and inexpensively. We can use various materials and techniques to create bridge tooling for prototype testing and evaluation. CNC machining can be a prefect choice for rapid tooling, it creates the part geometry into aluminum or soft steel (such as P-20) mold inserts in fastest lead time and lowest cost injection mold tooling.

If you are ready to go into production, take advantage of the high-speed machining, EDM, molding presses, and wide selection of materials. By offering rapid tooling and injection molding together, you get your complex and intricate parts faster and at a reduced cost.
