guest countries croatia and the netherlandsA further focal point of this year’s symposium will be the two guest countries Croatia and the Netherlands. The conference will host panels and sessions on these music markets and their specifi cities, and will feature speakers and delegates from the two countries.

feedBacK sessions: new formatsThe popular Feedback Sessions will be continued at this year’s Waves Music Conference, and expanded to include new for-mats. A select group of artists performing at the Waves Festival will be chosen by a jury to receive individual and constructive feedback from industry experts. For the fi rst time, international journalists will also be presenting their favorite performers in a panel at the 2014 conference. Furthermore, separate sessions will be held for electronic and pop/rock bands from the two guest countries and Austria, which in turn provides performers an additional opportunity to reach industry participants and expand the audience for their showcases at the festival.

With a total of 811 delegates, last year’s conference saw a 54% increase in attendance compared to 2012, and the 2014 conference is expected to grow even further. The symposium, which accompanies the annual Waves Vienna Festival, will take place from October 2nd to October 3rd 2014. The conference provides members of the international music business – opinion leaders, festival and concert organis-ers, labels and publishers, managers and media representa-tives - ample opportunity to interact, and to discuss music related issues in a series of keynotes, panels, and workshops.

Join us for a performance by the delicate trio Schmieds Puls, network with representatives of the Austrian music industry and ring in the final festival days in a casual atmosphere.

Under Austria’s tourist-oriented facade lies a most vibrant and blossoming music scene. The “music country Austria” is currently experiencing a musical reformation with a music underground pulsating under the surface and ready to break through.

Current music, however, is not necessarily one of the first things that comes to mind, even though Austria has always been considered as the prototypical music country. After all, Mozart, Haydn, Strauss and Mahler once lived and worked here.

The last truly noticeable hype in Vienna was during the 90s, when Kruder&Dorfmeister suddenly impacted the metropolis with a new urban sound.

Nowadays, Austria is increasingly transforming into a versatile, contemporary music landscape. The most important European showcase festival “Eurosonic” proclaimed Austria as the “focus country” for its 2014 edition.

FRI 03.10., 17:20–18:20 Austrian Heartbeats at Waves Bratislava @ Austrian Culture Forum, Astoria Palace, Hodžovo námestie 1/A (BA), LIVE: Schmieds Puls, free drinks and finger food for delegates

The Netherlands welcomes you at Waves Bratislava 2014 and offers you a perfect kick off for the whole showcase night in Bratislava. Dutch Impact and Eurosonic Noorderslag proudly presents two hot acts from the lowlands with free drinks and food for delegates. Do not miss delicious wine, beer, snacks and Dutch artists: Taymir and Julien Mier.

Taymir start was phenomenal. Their success recipe is: take a bit of rock n´roll inspiration from the 60´s, laisez-faire from Arctic Monkeys and the Strokes, be good looking and you got it! This formula really works, the songs of these four youngsters are really catchy!

Julian Mier is a creator of bubbling rhythms and delicate melodies, in which you can occasionally spot acoustic instruments. One of his track got featured on a Slovak compilation Beat Garden by the Gergaz label!

Don’t miss on this rare opportunity to meet with Dutch music industry professionals andartist managers. Hint – look for the tallest guy at the bar!
