Executive Summary Our mission to provide "The fullest development of the intellectual, emotional and physical capabilities of every student for active participation with a free and democratic society.” is of great importance to all concerned and is our first priority in regards to our students. Demographics:

 Watersmeet Township School District - One K-12 Building Student population – 189 - 47% Native American Number of teachers – 21 (includes ½ Counselor and ½ School Nurse) Support Staff – 8 Administrators – 2 Free and reduced lunch - 38% free, 26% reduced (November 6, 2008)

In 2005 the District completed a renovation/addition project. 5 classrooms, gymnasium, library, cafeteria and offices were added and the existing building was renovated. We are very proud of our new building. Every effort is being made to align the curriculum with the state standards and to provide our students with the best education possible. Funding is available for any staff interested in attending any pertinent professional development sessions. Because of former grants we have added technology such as cameras, scanners, video projectors, software, robotics kits, printers and various other hardware. These grants provide our students with excellent technological experiences. We hope to continue this trend into the future. As we are a rural school, video conferencing plays an important part in our future and will give our students additional educational opportunities. We currently have a computer to student ratio of 2:1. The community surrounding the Watersmeet Township School District supports our efforts and is actively involved in providing our students with a well-rounded education. 1. All math teachers will examine current MEAP data to disaggregate it and devise the best math program possible to help ensure the future success of our students as measured by the current state standards. 2. A list of supplemental mathematical resources,

primarily computer software, will be developed and distributed to all teachers involved in mathematics education in grades K-12. These lists will then be examined to determine if additional materials are needed to enhance the current mathematics curriculum.

FIRST YEAR GOALS: Evaluate the effectiveness of departmentalizing math in Grades 5-7

relative to implementation of Accelerated Math into Grades 4 & 5.

EVIDENCE OF NEED: Poor performance on MEAP along with teacher awareness of gaps that exist between student achievement levels in individual math classes. EVIDENCE OF SUCCESS: Attain AYP in all areas tested. A larger percentage of our student population will be scoring in the upper levels as defined by the MEAP. Also an increase in mastered objectives as defined by the Accelerated Math and Star Math diagnostic tests to place students at math grade level equivalency. ANNUAL OBJECTIVES: Each fall students will take the Star Math diagnostic test to help place them at the appropriate level in the program. The familiarity of the teacher with individual student achievement will also be factored in as to what the math curriculum will be for individual students. STRATEGIES TO MEET ANNUAL OBJECTIVES
