AT WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL ADX at Washington High School is a live/work adaptive reuse of one of Portland’s historic landmarks. The project combines an existing collaborative working community (ADX) with retail shops, office space, and housing. Founded on a collaborative com- munity concept, the project will be welcomed in the transitioning Buckman Neighborhood as a community-building asset. The new program lends well to the existing structure, reviving the old while retaining the historical impor- tance of Washington High School. ADX at Washington High School Sustainability Features: - The greenest building is the one that is already built - Highly efficient campus style heating and air conditioning - Accessible green roof terrace - Rainwater collection - Access to public transportation - Engages SE Stark St., promoting the human scale streetscape - Incubator for local, sustainable business - Eliminates commute for employ- ees living in the building

AT WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOLADX is currently in a 10,000 square foot building at 417 SE 11th Avenue.
Their facilities include: Wood & Metal Shop, Laser Studio, CNC Router, Industrial Sewing Machine, Co-Working Office Spaces, The Ninkasi Better Living Room, In-House Fabrication Services, Design & Branding Services, Busi-ness & Marketing Services
There are multiple membership options ranging from day passes to full access yearly memberships. There are also co-working office spaces to rent as well as a range of classes and events open to both members and non-members.
Advantages of moving ADX to Washington High School:
- Allows for expansion and renova-tion of shop space- Adds housing as a part of ADX, allowing for greater community- Gives ADX an opportunity for retail presence - Gives ADX a stronger public presence when mixed with other program

ADX at Washington High School Site Features:
- Site plan incorporates plan for future community center and field, planned by SERA Architects- Extending SERA’s planned drop off though the block allows for drop off and loading from the ground floor workshops- Short term drop off spaces would be available within the drop off area as well as along SE 14th Ave.- Accessible raised walkway along SE Stark St. brings pedestri-ans to storefronts on the second floor, much like the warehouse reuse in the Pearl District
