  • I. Mycenaean Greeks (1600-1000 B.C.) A. Mycenaean civilization was governed by powerful monarchies and notorious for keeping a strong military.

The Athenians were outnumbered, but proved victorious over the Persian invasion. This victory gave a confidence boost to other Greek city-states. 10 Years later, the Persians attacked again but were again defeated by the Greeks (Thermopylae)
