War: what is good for?

and what is it not good for (in addition to moral crises, human costs and economic costs)

What aspect of war are we interested

in? US wars

Implication of US wars for US business and finance

Work plan

Read about the impact of wars on economy. June 25th

Classify kinds of wars (from US perspective). Discussion June 26th to July 1st.

Take up responsibility of plotting few sectors of business and finance.

Plot the wars and their impact on different sectors of economy, stock prices (cumulative, sector wise and company wise).

Analysis after plotting

Look for what sectors go up (or down) with what war and first draw simple correlations.

Find differences and similarities in sectors according to different kinds of wars.

Potential problem of not being able to use tools such as spike triggered averaging because of changes in stocks preceding the official war. This is due to the fact that sudden wars are far and few. Another problem might be delayed dividends or losses for a sector.
