Staggered DismissalsOur staggered dismissals will continue in Term 3 following the very supportive feedback on the

initiative which is fully supported by the DoE. The Staggered dismissal process enables parents to

maintain social distancing whilst collecting students in the afternoon. Students are allocated a

non-changeable time for dismissal (3:00pm for Bradman & Chappell and 3:20pm for Ford &

Cawley). Parents always have the option of meeting children at 3:30pm at either Lea Avenue or

Aldinga Drive when school is dismissed. Please ensure you clearly communicate to your child if

using either the staggered or end of day meeting options.

Please note, if another parent is collecting your child via staggered dismissals, they need to pick

them up at your child's designated time as times are non-changeable.

Easing of Restrictions in Term 3Whilst we are not back to full operations, there are a number of restrictions that will be lifted

from the beginning of Term 3 including:

Increased sport options;

Inter-school competitions;

Incursions; and

Scripture and Ethics classes.

Please note the following activities still not permitted include:

Parent and visitor attendance on site;

Group sta photographs;

School camps; and

Parent volunteers.

Student ReportsStudents reports are being sent home today and provide valuable information about your child.

Please contact the school if you would like an appointment with your child’s teacher to discuss

the report or your child’s progress in general. The reports are simplied, acknowledging the

changes in educational delivery throughout Semester 1.

PBL Rewards Day Is Tomorrow!Congratulations to all our students on their safe respectful behaviour this term! We hope you

enjoy your PBL Rewards Day tomorrow.

Thank you to our wonderful PBL team of teachers for all their work in planning and preparing for

the Rewards Day and thank you again to our fantastic Wamberal Public School P&C who continue

to support our Positive Behaviour for Learning programs through sponsorship of prizes for the

lucky draw.

Seasons for GrowthChange and loss are issues that aect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Wamberal Public

School we recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce or

related circumstances, young people may benet from learning how to manage these changes

eectively.  We are therefore oering a very successful education program called Seasons for

Growth for Stage 2 and 3 students.

The program is run in small groups and is based on research that highlights the importance of

social support and the need to practise new skills to cope eectively with change and loss. The

program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem solving, decision-

making, eective communication and support networks.

Seasons for Growth runs for eight weeks and each weekly session is 40-50 minutes. All

information shared in each session is condential.  Some students may be recommended for the

program and others will nominate themselves. Mrs Suzie Tyson and Mr Mitch Stone will be

facilitating the delivery of the program in Term 3.

If you think your son or daughter would benet from Seasons for Growth, please email Jane Rees

at the school with your child’s name and the reason why they would benet from the program by

Friday 3 July 2020. A maximum of ten students will be chosen this round. If the demand to attend

the program is higher, then a priority list may be established with some students attending the

rst program, whilst others may have the opportunity to attend next year.

There is a small cost of $18 to cover the cost of the student learning journals for the program.

Please contact Mrs Rees if you require assistance in meeting this cost.

We are condent that it will be a valuable learning experience for those who request to be

involved. For more information please contact Mrs Rees, Mrs Tyson or Mr Stone by email or

phone to the school oce.

International Competitions and Assessments forSchools (ICAS)Parents are reminded that registration for ICAS closes on Friday 17 July 2020. If you would like

your child to take part in the assessments which target higher-order thinking and problem-

solving skills in English, mathematics, science, spelling and digital technologies, please register

online before this date.  Register and

pay directly at: https://shop.unswglobal.com.au/pages/pps  with our school access code:  QSU172.

As we approach the testing dates, teachers at school will conduct a practice session to ensure

students are familiar with how to navigate through the tests, answer questions and use all

functions with condence.

Have a great week everyone.

Why Rich Experience Matters So Much for BrainDevelopment

A recent article reminds us that a wide variety of rich experiences in play and the arts is vital for

child development. Childhood and adolescence are crucial stages for the development of a growth

mindset, social and emotional learning and general knowledge about the world. Books can oer a

breadth and depth of experience not available in our everyday lives, particularly during COVID-19

restrictions.

Library Overdue LoansThere are still 385 overdue loan items to be returned to the Library: while it has been dicult to

return books on time due to COVID-19, it is now time for all loans to be returned. I will send

another reminder email on Friday afternoon with the overdue titles. There will be no charge for

overdue books that are returned late but there is a replacement cost for lost items.

WPS Library ReservationsStudents can browse our WPS Oliver Library catalogue and make reservations for their chosen

books. Students can access the Library catalogue by logging on to the Student Portal and clicking

the Oliver Library link on their KidSpace homepage. If the Oliver Library link is not visible it will

be in one of the dropdown menus. Reserved items will be available shortly.

Way back in Term 1 students participated in a book selection process to purchase new titles for

the Library. Students added their names to lists for each available title and a lucky draw was held

for borrowing these titles after they were accessioned and covered. Books are ready for those

students next term if they have no overdue items. It might be YOU!
