Wake Up Sleeping Beauty South Sydney High School invites you to a talk by author and educator, Dannielle Miller Wake up Sleeping Beauty is a presentation for parents on the issues that affect teenage girls in today’s world. Dannielle Miller is the acclaimed author of ‘The Butterfly Effect’, and ‘The Girl with the Butterfly Tattoo, a Girl’s Guide to Claiming Her Power,’ as well as numerous articles on the struggles teenage girls go through with body image and self-esteem. In this talk, she gives you the tools to help your daughters cut through the bombardment of negative and hyper-sexual marketing and bloom into happy and confident teenage girls. Dannielle reveals the reasons why so many teen girls today are stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted and angry, and why too many are binge drinking, self-harming or going on extreme diets. As an educator and student welfare advocate, Dannielle was Students At Risk Coordinator for all high schools in Western Sydney and is the co-founder of Enlighten Education, which provides girls with training and support to stand up to limiting media and social messages. The one-hour talk, followed by question time, is by turns shocking, inspiring, humorous, emotional - and ultimately empowering to you as a parent.
