INTRODUCTION

TABLE OF TEST SPECIFICATION ( JSU )

A good test must be carefully planned. Tests available at the last minute usually do not

have high validity and reliability. Distribution items by topic and objectives may not reflect the

importance of the subject and the assertion made by the teacher. A good way to plan a test is to

provide a 'blueprint' or test prep program called Test Specification Table (JSU). JSU is to ensure

the content validity of the tests will be provided. JSU is an overview of a test from the planning

stage to the preparation stage of the test items and the question paper.

JSU built on two axes, namely:

a) The vertical axis (Content)

b) The horizontal axis (constructs / taxonomy objectives of Education) .

Information that can be obtained from a JSU is as follows:

a) Content Test - the topics / sub-topics

b) Level of skill/proficiency - construct / taxonomy objectives Education (Bloom’s

Taxonomy

c) Weighting in percent of the content, construct, level of difficulty, length of time and

interest

d) Number of items - in the form of the test, content of , the level of difficulty and construct

WHEN TO BUILT JSU?

Are we building the JSU before a course, before running a test or after the test has been

carried? Ideally and more beneficial JSU prepared before starting a course or during the annual

plan of teaching and learning. It is very suitable JSU considered as part of the preparatory course.

JSU will enable teachers to teach more effectively and help students learn more efficiently .

WHO CAN USE THE JSU?

In small institutions such as in a school, the teacher of a subject can use JSU for teaching

and assessing. If there are many teachers involved, they can make the draft panel of JSU and use

it for the benefit as stated above. It can also be used by teachers who are proficient or expert in a

certain subject for the purpose of teaching and assessment. At the state and national level, the

Examination Board may use JSU as a guide to direct selected individuals to built the items.

THE WEIGHTS AND THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ITEMS ADJUSTMENTS

FOR EACH LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY

The determination of the weights for each item will be tested according to the level of

proficiency based on the syllabus (HSP – Huraian Sukatan Pelajaran). In building the Table of

Test Specification (JPU – Jadual Penentuan Ujian), the multiple choice questions will be based

on Bloom’s Taxonomy which have 5 level of proficiency. The multiple choice questions will test

on Knowledge (low level), Comprehension (moderate level) and Application and Analysis (high

level). As for the essays, it will be tested on Synthesize and Evaluation.
