ARCHELASHORTBIOGRAPHY

Page 2: Wagner Archela BIO

Born in 1964 in a traditional Italian neighborhood in São Paulo, since the beginning Archela was strongly influenced by the mix of cultures in Brazil.

Having dropped out of

the engineering university, following the dream of becoming an artist, Archela spent about six years as a professional musician, playing guitar and singing blues in a jazz nightclub. The artistic lifestyle in counterpoint

with the logical thought learned at the engineering school and the process of combining different ideas, influences and techniques are the synthesis of the Archela’s design.

The first pieces created were vases, which he welded using recycled materials from an acrylic fish tank.

He spent most of the time designing displays and gifts for large corporations, such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Vogue magazine.

The first pieces created were vases, which he welded using recycled materials from an acrylic fish tank. As a self-educated workman, the newfound artisan skills were soon put to work to make many prototypes, witch he sent to some

companies in the USA. One year later, one big American company ordered more than 8000 vases; definitely not bad for the first job of a young designer.
