● Do not use harsh chemicals (such as alcohol,benzene, thinners, etc.) or detergents to clean yourphone. This could cause a fire.

● Do not drop, strike, or shake your phone severely. Itmay harm the internal circuit boards of the phone.

● Do not use your phone in high explosive areas as thephone may generate sparks.

● Do not damage the power cord by bending, twisting,pulling, or heating. Do not use the plug if it is loose asit may cause electric shock or fire.

● Do not place any heavy items on the power cord. Donot allow the power cord to be crimped as it maycause electric shock or fire.

● Do not handle the phone with wet hands while it isbeing charged. It may cause an electric shock orseriously damage your phone.

● Do not disassemble the phone.

● Unplug the power cord and charger during lightningstorms to avoid electric shock or fire.

● Only use the batteries and chargers provided by LG.The warranty will not be applied to products providedby other suppliers.

● Only authorized personnel should service the phoneand its accessories. Faulty installation or service mayresult in accidents and consequently invalidate thewarranty.

● An emergency call can be made only within a servicearea. For an emergency call, make sure that you arewithin a service area and that the phone is turned on.

Technical Details

The VX8350 is an all digital phone thatoperates on both Code DivisionMultiple Access (CDMA) frequencies:Cellular services at 800 MHz andPersonal Communication Services(PCS) at 1.9 GHz.CDMA technology uses a featurecalled DSSS (Direct Sequence SpreadSpectrum) that enables the phone to

keep communication from beingcrossed and to use one frequencychannel by multiple users in the samespecific area. This results in a 10-foldcapacity increase when comparedwith analog mode. In addition,features such as soft / softer handoff,hard handoff, and dynamic RF powercontrol technologies combine toreduce call interruptions.The Cellular and PCS CDMA networksconsist of MSO (Mobile SwitchingOffice), BSC (Base Station Controller),BTS (Base Station TransmissionSystem), and MS (Mobile Station). * TSB -74: Protocol between an IS-

95A system and ANSI J-STD-0081xRTT system receives twice as manysubscribers in the wireless section asIS-95. Its battery life is twice as longas IS-95. High-speed datatransmission is also possible.EV-DO system is optimized for dataservice and is much faster than 1xRTTsystem in applicable area. The following table lists some majorCDMA standards.

Getting Started with Your Phone

Installing the Battery

1. Insert the bottom of the battery intothe opening on the back of the phone.

2. Push the battery down until itclicks into place.

3. Place the battery cover over theopening on the back of the phone,then slide it upward until it clicksinto place.

Removing the Battery

1. Slide the battery cover downwardto remove it.

2. Remove the battery from thebattery compartment by lifting thetop of the battery.

Charging the Battery

1. Attach the charger to the phone.Make sure that the triangle symbolfaces up when inserting the pluginto the charger port.

Battery Temperature ProtectionIf the battery gets overheated, thephone will automatically turn off.When you turn the phone back on, amessage pops up alerting you that thephone was powered off for yoursafety.

Battery Charge LevelYou can find the battery charge levelat the top right of the LCD screen.When the charge level becomes low,the battery sensor sounds a warningtone, blinks the battery icon, anddisplays a warning message. As thecharge level approaches empty, thephone automatically switches offwithout saving.

Signal StrengthCall quality depends on the signalstrength in your area. You can tell howmuch signal strength you have by thenumber of bars next to the signalstrength icon: the more bars, thestronger the signal. If you’re havingproblems with signal quality, move toan open area or, when inside abuilding, try moving near a window.

1. Install a charged battery orconnect the phone to an externalpower source.

2. Press until the LCD screenlights up.

Making Calls

1. Make sure the phone is turned on.If not, press for about threeseconds. If necessary, enter the lock code.

Correcting Dialing Mistakes

Press once to erase the lastdigit entered, or hold it down for atleast two seconds to delete all thedigits.

Redialing Calls

1. Press twice to redial the lastnumber dialed.

Receiving Calls

1. When the phone rings or vibrates,there are three ways of answeringa call, depending on the phonesetting:

● Flip Open: Open the flip (bydefault).

● Any Key: Press any key.

● Auto with Handsfree: The callautomatically connects whenconnected to a handsfree device.

NOTE If you press the Left Soft Key [Quiet] while the phone is ringing, theringing or vibration is muted for thatcall.

NOTE If you press the Right Soft Key [Ignore] while the phone is ringing andunlocked, the call will end or go tovoicemail.

2. Press to end the call.

Volume Quick AdjustmentQuickly adjust ringer and earpiecevolumes by pressing the upper sidekey to increase and lower key todecrease.

NOTE The earpiece volume can only beadjusted during a call and Key Beepvolume can only be adjusted throughthe Menu.

NOTE To turn off sounds, press and hold thelower side key for 3 seconds when theflip is open, then press and hold theupper side key to return to normalsounds mode.

Call WaitingDuring a call, one beep indicatesanother incoming call. Press toreceive the waiting call then press

again to switch between calls.

Voice CommandsVoice Commands allow you to dothings by verbal command (e.g., makecalls, confirm Voicemail, etc.). Pressthe Voice Commands Key andfollow the prompts to use your voicecommand(s).

Exposure to Radio Frequency Signal

Your wireless handheld portablephone is a low power radiotransmitter and receiver. When ON, itreceives and sends out RadioFrequency (RF) signals.In August, 1996, the FederalCommunications Commissions (FCC)adopted RF exposure guidelines withsafety levels for handheld wirelessphones. Those guidelines areconsistent with the safety standardspreviously set by both U.S. andinternational standards bodies:

Electronic Devices

Most modern electronic equipment isshielded from RF signals. However,certain electronic equipment may notbe shielded against the RF signalsfrom your wireless phone.

Pacemakers

The Health Industry ManufacturersAssociation recommends that aminimum separation of six (6) inchesbe maintained between a handheldwireless phone and a pacemaker toavoid potential interference with thepacemaker. These recommendationsare consistent with the independent

research by and recommendations ofWireless Technology Research.Persons with pacemakers:● Should ALWAYS keep the phone

more than six (6) inches from theirpacemaker when the phone isturned ON;

● Should not carry the phone in abreast pocket;

● Should use the ear opposite thepacemaker to minimize the potential forinterference;

● Should turn the phone OFFimmediately if there is any reasonto suspect that interference istaking place.

Hearing Aids

Some digital wireless phones mayinterfere with some hearing aids. Inthe event of such interference, youmay want to consult your serviceprovider (or call the customer serviceline to discuss alternatives).

Other Medical Devices

If you use any other personal medicaldevice, consult the manufacturer ofyour device to determine if it isadequately shielded from external RFenergy. Your physician may be able to

Health Care Facilities

Turn your phone OFF in health carefacilities when any regulations postedin these areas instruct you to do so.Hospitals or health care facilities mayuse equipment that could be sensitiveto external RF energy.

Vehicles

RF signals may affect improperlyinstalled or inadequately shieldedelectronic systems in motor vehicles.Check with the manufacturer or itsrepresentative regarding your vehicle.You should also consult themanufacturer of any equipment thathas been added to your vehicle.

Posted Facilities

Turn your phone OFF in any facilitywhere posted notices so require.

AircraftFCC regulations prohibit using yourphone while in the air. Switch OFFyour phone before boarding anaircraft.

Blasting Areas

To avoid interfering with blastingoperations, turn your phone OFF whenin a “blasting area” or in areasposted: “Turn off two-way radio”.Obey all signs and instructions.

Potentially Explosive Atmosphere

Turn your phone OFF when in anyarea with a potentially explosiveatmosphere and obey all signs andinstructions. Sparks in such areascould cause an explosion or fireresulting in bodily injury or evendeath.Areas with a potentially explosiveatmosphere are often, but not alwaysmarked clearly. Potential areas mayinclude: fueling areas (such asgasoline stations); below deck onboats; fuel or chemical transfer orstorage facilities; vehicles usingliquefied petroleum gas (such aspropane or butane); areas where theair contains chemicals or particles(such as grain, dust, or metalpowders); and any other area whereyou would normally be advised to turnoff your vehicle engine.

Explosion, Shock, and Fire Hazards

● Do not put your phone in a placesubject to excessive dust and keepthe minimum required distancebetween the power cord and heatsources.

● Unplug the power cord prior tocleaning your phone, and clean thepower plug pin when it’s dirty.

● When using the power plug,ensure that it’s firmly connected. Ifnot, it may cause excessive heat orfire.

● If you put your phone in a pocket orbag without covering thereceptacle of the phone (powerplug pin), metallic articles (such asa coin, paperclip or pen) may

short-circuit the phone. Alwayscover the receptacle when not inuse.

● Don’t short-circuit the battery.Metallic articles such as a coin,paperclip or pen in your pocket orbag may short-circuit the + and –terminals of the battery (metalstrips on the battery) upon moving.Short-circuit of the terminal maydamage the battery and cause anexplosion.

General Notice

● Using a damaged battery orplacing a battery in your mouthmay cause serious injury.

● Do not place items containingmagnetic components such as acredit card, phone card, bank book,or subway ticket near your phone.The magnetism of the phone maydamage the data stored in themagnetic strip.

● Do not paint your phone.

● The data saved in your phone mightbe deleted due to careless use,repair of the phone, or upgrade ofthe software. Please backup yourimportant phone numbers.(Ringtones, text messages, voicemessages, pictures, and videoscould also be deleted.) Themanufacturer is not liable fordamage due to the loss of data.

● When you use the phone in publicplaces, set the ringtone to vibrationso you don't disturb others.

● Do not turn your phone on or offwhen putting it to your ear.

● Use accessories, such asearphones and headsets, withcaution. Ensure that cables aretucked away safely and do nottouch the antenna unnecessarily.

Caution: Avoid potentialhearing loss.Prolonged exposure to loud sounds(including music) is the most commoncause of preventable hearing loss.Some scientific research suggeststhat using portable audio devices,such as portable music players andcellular telephones, at high volumesettings for long durations may lead topermanent noiseinduced hearing loss.This includes the use of headphones(including headsets, earbuds andBluetooth® or other wireless devices).Exposure to very loud sound has alsobeen associated in some studies withtinnitus (a ringing in the ear),hypersensitivity to sound anddistorted hearing. Individualsusceptibility to noise-inducedhearing loss and other potentialhearing problems varies.The amount of sound produced by a

portable audio device variesdepending on the nature of the sound,the device, the device settings andthe headphones. You should followsome commonsenserecommendations when using anyportable audio device:● Set the volume in a quiet

environment and select the lowestvolume at which you can hearadequately.

● When using headphones, turn thevolume down if you cannot hearthe people speaking near you or ifthe person sitting next to you canhear what you are listening to.

● Do not turn the volume up to blockout noisy surroundings. If youchoose to listen to your portabledevice in a noisy environment, usenoise-cancelling headphones toblock out background environmentalnoise.

● Limit the amount of time you listen.As the volume increases, less timeis required before your hearingcould be affected.

● Avoid using headphones afterexposure to extremely loud noises,such as rock concerts, that mightcause temporary hearing loss.Temporary hearing loss might

cause unsafe volumes to soundnormal.

● Do not listen at any volume thatcauses you discomfort. If youexperience ringing in your ears,hear muffled speech or experienceany temporary hearing difficultyafter listening to your portableaudio device, discontinue use andconsult your doctor.

1. Do wireless phones pose ahealth hazard?

The available scientific evidence doesnot show that any health problemsare associated with using wirelessphones. There is no proof, however,that wireless phones are absolutelysafe. Wireless phones emit low levelsof Radio Frequency (RF) energy in themicrowave range while being used.They also emit very low levels of RFwhen in standby mode. Whereas highlevels of RF can produce healtheffects (by heating tissue), exposureto low level RF that does not produceheating effects causes no knownadverse health effects. Many studiesof low level RF exposures have notfound any biological effects. Somestudies have suggested that somebiological effects may occur, but suchfindings have not been confirmed byadditional research. In some cases,

other researchers have had difficultyin reproducing those studies, or indetermining the reasons forinconsistent results.

2. What is the FDA's roleconcerning the safety ofwireless phones?

Under the law, the FDA does notreview the safety of radiation-emittingconsumer products such as wirelessphones before they can be sold, as itdoes with new drugs or medicaldevices. However, the agency hasauthority to take action if wirelessphones are shown to emit RadioFrequency (RF) energy at a level thatis hazardous to the user. In such acase, the FDA could require themanufacturers of wireless phones tonotify users of the health hazard andto repair, replace, or recall the phonesso that the hazard no longer exists.Although the existing scientific datadoes not justify FDA regulatoryactions, the FDA has urged thewireless phone industry to take anumber of steps, including thefollowing:● Support needed research into

possible biological effects of RF ofthe type emitted by wirelessphones;

● Design wireless phones in a waythat minimizes any RF exposure tothe user that is not necessary fordevice function; and

● Cooperate in providing users ofwireless phones with the bestpossible information on possibleeffects of wireless phone use onhuman health.

The FDA belongs to an interagencyworking group of the federal agenciesthat have responsibility for differentaspects of RF safety to ensurecoordinated efforts at the federallevel. The following agencies belongto this working group:● National Institute for Occupational

Safety and Health

● Environmental Protection Agency

● Occupational Safety and HealthAdministration

● National Telecommunications andInformation Administration

The National Institutes of Healthparticipates in some interagencyworking group activities, as well.The FDA shares regulatoryresponsibilities for wireless phoneswith the Federal CommunicationsCommission (FCC). All phones that aresold in the United States must complywith FCC safety guidelines that limit RF

exposure. The FCC relies on the FDAand other health agencies for safetyquestions about wireless phones.The FCC also regulates the basestations that the wireless phonenetworks rely upon. While these basestations operate at higher power thando the wireless phones themselves,the RF exposures that people get fromthese base stations are typicallythousands of times lower than thosethey can get from wireless phones.Base stations are thus not the subjectof the safety questions discussed inthis document.

3. What kinds of phones are thesubject of this update?

The term “wireless phone” refershere to handheld wireless phoneswith built-in antennas, often called“cell”, “mobile”, or “PCS” phones.These types of wireless phones canexpose the user to measurable RadioFrequency (RF) energy because of theshort distance between the phoneand the user’s head. These RF exposures are limited byFCC safety guidelines that weredeveloped with the advice of the FDAand other federal health and safetyagencies. When the phone is locatedat greater distances from the user, the

exposure to RF is drastically lowerbecause a person's RF exposuredecreases rapidly with increasingdistance from the source. The so-called “cordless phones,” which havea base unit connected to thetelephone wiring in a house, typicallyoperate at far lower power levels, andthus produce RF exposures far belowthe FCC safety limits.

4. What are the results of theresearch done already?

The research done thus far hasproduced conflicting results, andmany studies have suffered fromflaws in their research methods.Animal experiments investigating theeffects of Radio Frequency (RF)energy exposures characteristic ofwireless phones have yieldedconflicting results that often cannotbe repeated in other laboratories. Afew animal studies, however, havesuggested that low levels of RF couldaccelerate the development of cancerin laboratory animals. However, manyof the studies that showed increasedtumor development used animals thathad been genetically engineered ortreated with cancer-causingchemicals so as to be pre-disposed todevelop cancer in the absence of RF

exposure. Other studies exposed theanimals to RF for up to 22 hours perday. These conditions are not similarto the conditions under which peopleuse wireless phones, so we do notknow with certainty what the resultsof such studies mean for humanhealth. Three large epidemiologystudies have been published sinceDecember 2000. Between them, thestudies investigated any possibleassociation between the use ofwireless phones and primary braincancer, glioma, meningioma, oracoustic neuroma, tumors of the brainor salivary gland, leukemia, or othercancers. None of the studiesdemonstrated the existence of anyharmful health effects from wirelessphone RF exposures. However, noneof the studies can answer questionsabout long-term exposures, since theaverage period of phone use in thesestudies was around three years.

5. What research is needed todecide whether RF exposurefrom wireless phones poses ahealth risk?

A combination of laboratory studiesand epidemiological studies of peopleactually using wireless phones wouldprovide some of the data that are

needed. Lifetime animal exposurestudies could be completed in a fewyears. However, very large numbersof animals would be needed toprovide reliable proof of a cancerpromoting effect, if one exists.Epidemiological studies can providedata that is directly applicable tohuman populations, but ten or moreyears follow-up may be needed toprovide answers about some healtheffects, such as cancer. This isbecause the interval between the timeof exposure to a cancer-causingagent and the time tumors develop —if they do — may be many, manyyears. The interpretation ofepidemiological studies is hamperedby difficulties in measuring actual RFexposure during day-to-day use ofwireless phones. Many factors affectthis measurement, such as the angleat which the phone is held, or whichmodel of phone is used.

6. What is the FDA doing to find outmore about the possible healtheffects of wireless phone RF?

The FDA is working with the U.S.National Toxicology Program and withgroups of investigators around theworld to ensure that high priorityanimal studies are conducted to

address important questions aboutthe effects of exposure to RadioFrequency (RF) energy. The FDA has been a leadingparticipant in the World HealthOrganization International ElectroMagnetic Fields (EMF) Project sinceits inception in 1996. An influentialresult of this work has been thedevelopment of a detailed agenda ofresearch needs that has driven theestablishment of new researchprograms around the world. Theproject has also helped develop aseries of public informationdocuments on EMF issues. The FDA and the CellularTelecommunications & InternetAssociation (CTIA) have a formalCooperative Research AndDevelopment Agreement (CRADA) todo research on wireless phone safety.The FDA provides the scientificoversight, obtaining input from expertsin government, industry, andacademic organizations. CTIA-fundedresearch is conducted throughcontracts with independentinvestigators. The initial research willinclude both laboratory studies andstudies of wireless phone users. TheCRADA will also include a broadassessment of additional researchneeds in the context of the latest

research developments around theworld.

7. How can I find out how muchRadio Frequency energyexposure I can get by using mywireless phone?

All phones sold in the United Statesmust comply with FederalCommunications Commission (FCC)guidelines that limit Radio Frequency(RF) energy exposures. The FCCestablished these guidelines inconsultation with the FDA and theother federal health and safetyagencies. The FCC limit for RFexposure from wireless phones is setat a Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg). TheFCC limit is consistent with the safetystandards developed by the Institute ofElectrical and Electronic Engineering(IEEE) and the National Council onRadiation Protection andMeasurement. The exposure limittakes into consideration the body’sability to remove heat from the tissuesthat absorb energy from the wirelessphone and is set well below levelsknown to have effects. Manufacturersof wireless phones must report the RFexposure level for each model ofphone to the FCC. The FCC website

8. What has the FDA done tomeasure the Radio Frequencyenergy coming from wirelessphones?

The Institute of Electrical andElectronic Engineers (IEEE) isdeveloping a technical standard formeasuring the Radio Frequency (RF)energy exposure from wirelessphones and other wireless handsetswith the participation and leadershipof FDA scientists and engineers. Thestandard, “Recommended Practicefor Determining the Spatial-PeakSpecific Absorption Rate (SAR) in theHuman Body Due to WirelessCommunications Devices:Experimental Techniques”, sets forththe first consistent test methodologyfor measuring the rate at which RF isdeposited in the heads of wirelessphone users. The test method uses atissue-simulating model of the humanhead. Standardized SAR testmethodology is expected to greatlyimprove the consistency ofmeasurements made at different

laboratories on the same phone. SARis the measurement of the amount ofenergy absorbed in tissue, either bythe whole body or a small part of thebody. It is measured in watts/kg (ormilliwatts/g) of matter. Thismeasurement is used to determinewhether a wireless phone complieswith safety guidelines.

9. What steps can I take to reducemy exposure to Radio Frequencyenergy from my wireless phone?

If there is a risk from these products —and at this point we do not know thatthere is — it is probably very small. Butif you are concerned about avoidingeven potential risks, you can take a fewsimple steps to minimize your exposureto Radio Frequency (RF) energy. Sincetime is a key factor in how muchexposure a person receives, reducingthe amount of time spent using awireless phone will reduce RFexposure. If you must conductextended conversations by wirelessphone every day, you could place moredistance between your body and thesource of the RF, since the exposurelevel drops off dramatically withdistance. For example, you could use aheadset and carry the wireless phoneaway from your body or use a wireless

phone connected to a remote antenna.Again, the scientific data does notdemonstrate that wireless phones areharmful. But if you are concernedabout the RF exposure from theseproducts, you can use measures likethose described above to reduce yourRF exposure from wireless phone use.

10. What about children usingwireless phones?

The scientific evidence does not showa danger to users of wireless phones,including children and teenagers. Ifyou want to take steps to lowerexposure to Radio Frequency (RF)energy, the measures describedabove would apply to children andteenagers using wireless phones.Reducing the time of wireless phoneuse and increasing the distancebetween the user and the RF sourcewill reduce RF exposure. Some groups sponsored by othernational governments have advisedthat children be discouraged fromusing wireless phones at all. Forexample, the government in theUnited Kingdom distributed leafletscontaining such a recommendation inDecember 2000. They noted that noevidence exists that using a wirelessphone causes brain tumors or other ill

effects. Their recommendation to limitwireless phone use by children wasstrictly precautionary; it was notbased on scientific evidence that anyhealth hazard exists.

11. What about wireless phoneinterference with medicalequipment?

Radio Frequency (RF) energy fromwireless phones can interact withsome electronic devices. For thisreason, the FDA helped develop adetailed test method to measureElectro Magnetic Interference (EMI) ofimplanted cardiac pacemakers anddefibrillators from wireless telephones.This test method is now part of astandard sponsored by theAssociation for the Advancement ofMedical Instrumentation (AAMI). Thefinal draft, a joint effort by the FDA,medical device manufacturers, andmany other groups, was completed inlate 2000. This standard will allowmanufacturers to ensure that cardiacpacemakers and defibrillators are safefrom wireless phone EMI.The FDA has tested hearing aids forinterference from handheld wirelessphones and helped develop avoluntary standard sponsored by theInstitute of Electrical and Electronic

Engineers (IEEE). This standardspecifies test methods andperformance requirements for hearingaids and wireless phones so that nointerference occurs when a personuses a “compatible” phone and a“compatible” hearing aid at the sametime. This standard was approved bythe IEEE in 2000. The FDA continues to monitor the useof wireless phones for possibleinteractions with other medicaldevices. Should harmful interferencebe found to occur, the FDA willconduct testing to assess theinterference and work to resolve theproblem.

When using yourwireless phone behind the wheel of acar, practice good common sense andremember the following tips:

1. Get to know your wireless phoneand its features such as speed dialand redial. Carefully read yourinstruction manual and learn totake advantage of valuablefeatures most phones offer,including automatic redial andmemory. 3. Make sure you place your wirelessphone within easy reach andwhere you can reach it withoutremoving your eyes from the road.If you get an incoming call at aninconvenient time, if possible, letyour voicemail answer it for you.

4. Suspend conversations duringhazardous driving conditions orsituations. Let the person you arespeaking with know you aredriving; if necessary, suspend thecall in heavy traffic or hazardousweather conditions. Rain, sleet,snow, and ice can be hazardous,but so is heavy traffic. As a driver,your first responsibility is to payattention to the road.

5. Don’t take notes or look up phonenumbers while driving. If you arereading an address book orbusiness card, or writing a “to-do”list while driving a car, you are notwatching where you are going. It iscommon sense. Do not get caughtin a dangerous situation becauseyou are reading or writing and notpaying attention to the road or

nearby vehicles.

6. Dial sensibly and assess the traffic;if possible, place calls when youare not moving or before pullinginto traffic. Try to plan your callsbefore you begin your trip orattempt to coincide your calls withtimes you may be stopped at a stopsign, red light, or otherwisestationary. But if you need to dialwhile driving, follow this simple tip-- dial only a few numbers, checkthe road and your mirrors, thencontinue.

7. Do not engage in stressful oremotional conversations that maybe distracting. Stressful oremotional conversations anddriving do not mix; they aredistracting and even dangerouswhen you are behind the wheel ofa car. Certain situations youencounter while driving mayrequire attention, but are not urgentenough to merit a call foremergency services. But you canstill use your wireless phone tolend a hand. If you see a broken-down vehicle posing no serioushazard, a broken traffic signal, aminor traffic accident where no oneappears injured or a vehicle youknow to be stolen, call roadsideassistance or other special non-emergency wireless number.

ConsumerInformation on SAR(Specific Absorption Rate)This model phone meets thegovernment's requirements forexposure to radio waves. Yourwireless phone is a radio transmitterand receiver. It is designed andmanufactured not to exceed theemission limits for exposure to RadioFrequency (RF) energy set by theFederal Communications Commissionof the U.S. Government. These limitsare part of comprehensive guidelinesand establish permitted levels of RFenergy for the general population. Theguidelines are based on standardsthat were developed by independentscientific organizations throughperiodic and thorough evaluation of

Testsfor SAR are conducted using standardoperating positions specified by theFCC with the phone transmitting at itshighest certified power level in alltested frequency bands. FCC Hearing-AidCompatibility (HAC)Regulations forWireless DevicesOn July 10, 2003, the U.S. FederalCommunications Commission (FCC)Report and Order in WT Docket 01-309modified the exception of wirelessphones under the Hearing AidCompatibility Act of 1988 (HAC Act) torequire digital wireless phones becompatible with hearing-aids. Theintent of the HAC Act is to ensurereasonable access totelecommunications services forpersons with hearing disabilities.While some wireless phones are usednear some hearing devices (hearingaids and cochlear implants), usersmay detect a buzzing, humming, orwhining noise. Some hearing devicesare more immune than others to thisinterference noise, and phones alsovary in the amount of interferencethey generate.The wireless telephone industry hasdeveloped a rating system forwireless phones, to assist hearing

device users find phones that may becompatible with their hearing devices.Not all phones have been rated.Phones that are rated have the ratingon their box or a label located on thebox. The ratings are not guarantees.Results will vary depending on theuser’s hearing device and hearingloss. If your hearing device happensto be vulnerable to interference, youmay not be able to use a rated phonesuccessfully. Trying out the phonewith your hearing device is the bestway to evaluate it for your personalneeds.M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4meet FCC requirements and are likelyto generate less interference tohearing devices than phones that arenot labeled. In the above example, if a hearing aidmeets the M2 level rating and thewireless phone meets the M3 levelrating, the sum of the two valuesequal M5. This is synonymous for Tratings. This should provide thehearing aid user with “normal usage”while using their hearing aid with theparticular wireless phone. “Normalusage” in this context is defined as asignal quality that is acceptable fornormal operation. The M mark is intended to besynonymous with the U mark. The Tmark is intended to be synonymouswith the UT mark. The M and T marksare recommended by the Alliance forTelecommunications IndustriesSolutions (ATIS). The U and UT marksare referenced in Section 20.19 of theFCC Rules. The HAC rating andmeasurement procedure aredescribed in the American NationalStandards Institute (ANSI) C63.19standard.

To ensure that the Hearing AidCompatibility rating for your phone ismaintained, secondary transmitterssuch as Bluetooth and WLANcomponents must be disabled duringa call. See Page 59 for instructions todisable these components.

LIMITED WARRANTY STATEMENT

1. WHAT THIS WARRANTYCOVERS:

LG offers you a limited warranty thatthe enclosed subscriber unit and itsenclosed accessories will be freefrom defects in material andworkmanship, according to thefollowing terms and conditions:

(1) The limited warranty for theproduct extends for TWELVE (12)MONTHS beginning on the date ofpurchase of the product with validproof of purchase, or absent validproof of purchase, FIFTEEN (15)MONTHS from date ofmanufacture as determined by theunit's manufacture date code.

(2) The limited warranty extends onlyto the original purchaser of theproduct and is not assignable ortransferable to any subsequentpurchaser/end user.

(3) This warranty is good only to theoriginal purchaser of the productduring the warranty period as longas it is in the U.S., including Alaska,Hawaii, U.S. Territories andCanada.

(4) The external housing and cosmeticparts shall be free of defects at thetime of shipment and, therefore,shall not be covered under these

limited warranty terms.

(5) Upon request from LG, theconsumer must provide informationto reasonably prove the date ofpurchase.

(6) The customer shall bear the cost ofshipping the product to theCustomer Service Department ofLG. LG shall bear the cost ofshipping the product back to theconsumer after the completion ofservice under this limited warranty.

2. WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOESNOT COVER:

(1) Defects or damages resulting fromuse of the product in other than itsnormal and customary manner.

(2) Defects or damages from abnormaluse, abnormal conditions, improperstorage, exposure to moisture ordampness, unauthorizedmodifications, unauthorizedconnections, unauthorized repair,misuse, neglect, abuse, accident,alteration, improper installation, orother acts which are not the faultof LG, including damage caused byshipping, blown fuses, spills of foodor liquid.

(3) Breakage or damage to antennasunless caused directly by defectsin material or workmanship.

(6) This limited warranty is in lieu of allother warranties, express orimplied either in fact or byoperations of law, statutory orotherwise, including, but not limitedto any implied warranty ofmarketability or fitness for aparticular use.

(7) Damage resulting from use of nonLG approved accessories.

(8) All plastic surfaces and all otherexternally exposed parts that arescratched or damaged due tonormal customer use.

(9) Products operated outsidepublished maximum ratings.

(10) Products used or obtained in arental program.

(11) Consumables (such as fuses).

3. WHAT LG WILL DO:

LG will, at its sole option, either repair,replace or refund the purchase priceof any unit that does not conform tothis limited warranty. LG may chooseat its option to use functionallyequivalent re-conditioned, refurbishedor new units or parts or any units. Inaddition, LG will not re-install or back-up any data, applications or softwarethat you have added to your phone. Itis therefore recommended that youback-up any such data or informationprior to sending the unit to LG to avoidthe permanent loss of suchinformation.

4. STATE LAW RIGHTS:

No other express warranty isapplicable to this product. THEDURATION OF ANY IMPLIEDWARRANTIES, INCLUDING THEIMPLIED WARRANTY OFMARKETABILITY, IS LIMITED TO THEDURATION OF THE EXPRESSWARRANTY HEREIN.
