Mr Manyesa’s 2020 Message to VSSB

VSSB’s New

BIG FIVE During 2019, Vuleka went through a careful, inclusive process to create a new motto. The result was a motto which focused on the school’s primary role – educa-tion and service. The actual wording of the motto was put together by one of our own VSSB pupils who came up with “Enter to Learn – Leave to Serve”. At the same time, students and staff workshopped a new set of values which we all felt were the appropri-ate ones for our school. A list was drawn up and we voted – all students and all staff! And the new “Big Five” were chosen to lead the school into the future:

RESPONSIBILITY

2020 promises to be an exciting year for our teachers and learners who look forward to achieving great results through hard work and collaboration. In 2020 we will not only focus on achieving academic results, but we will also commit to excelling in extra-curricular activities and all our learners and teachers have already signed up for these activities. I join Vuleka SSB at a time when the school is introducing a values system. We live in a broken society and as an educa-tion institution we have a responsibility in teaching our children values to prepare them to be responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to our country and the globe at large. Our teachers and learners have pledged to work on and uphold our new values of honesty, integrity, responsibility, compassion and respect. Our new motto, “Enter to learn – leave to serve”, motivates and encourages our teachers and learners to be servant leaders and is in line with our theme for the year, “How can I serve my school community?” We are hopeful that, through hard work, resilience, commitment and targeted intervention, our class of 2020 will achieve great results. We commit to excellence and to be a school of choice.
